We need to look at last season when thinking of what we want.

I don't see the need to go attracting defenders it's not our weak spot

Speed is an essential or at least fast reflexs.

The one thing that bothers me more than anything in the best on offer is their age - most have only got about 3 seasons before they are 30. So we're putting our money on a flag in this time frame, which you would expect but after that we'll take a nose dive IMO.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Option #512

Ball & #16 to Hawthorn for Josh Kennedy & #9

#9 & #32 to Port for Shaun Burgoyne

OR

#9 to Carl for Fev & #32 to Bris for Joel McDonald.

Sick of Collingwood, so I thought I'd cut them out!

Brisbane got massive draft picks when they entered the competition.
They did not trade them away to be instantly competitive like stupid Fremantle.
Six years later Brisbane went back to back to back.
2015 through to 2020 will be Glod Coast's and West Sydney's windows.

Face reality, our window is now, we can sit at the bottom once our present window closes, collect the players for another window in the early 2020's when Gold Coast and West Sydney go into decline.

The alternative is to do a Sheedy.
Everyone looks after and keeps their job because the team is competitvie.
Keep the team competitve just inside and outside the eight but with not a snow flake's chance in hell of winning a premiership.

I agree wholeheartedly that we need some more speed (or at least could benefit greatly from it), but I think it's also widely agreed that we need someone else with size up forward, who would take a load off Rooey and Kosi.
By getting someone like Reid or Brown, it would, as I said, free up Fisher especially, to be more attacking, which would in turn free up Goddard to play forward, where he would probably DOMINATE, kicking lots of goals and setting up even more.
We can (and I hope will) still go after speed with another trade.

Gilbert The Great wrote:we dont want to get fev and lose lynch. Lynch will be a good player for a numer of years to come, whereas fevs time is seriously limited and will not be playing in another 5 years.
Fev would unbalance the forward line and release the forward pressure.
We need that 6th mobile forward to go with Kosi, Roo, Mini, Milne & Schneider.

Lynch may be that guy but Fev is not.

I don't think Carlton is serious on Fev anyhow.

They will simply make it too difficult for anyone to take him.
Then they will take him back suitably embarassed and punished for the embarassment he has caused the club.

I keep oscillating between anger and understanding with this Luke Ball situation. I am pissed off that the club gave him a lot of latitude in his early days with his schooling and that he owes the club.

However, I was confused about why he was given so little game time on GF day and maybe that was the last straw. Maybe he thought he could have made that difference and wasn't allowed the opportunity. He is an intelligent guy so I am sure he has thought about all of this.

I hope that in 12 months from now we will be enjoying the hindsight threads of winning the 2010 flag because of decisions taken this year and not being too worried about Trade Week. I will be too drunk to post if that happens. :? :x

Macaffer? He's physically mature, won nearly half his ball in a contest and had 23 tackles in five games. There seems to be some potential there.

I dont think collingwood's second pick alone is enough for Bally, but second pick and a promising youngster might - but one who could step up this year if needed.

I also like Macaffer - he is a strong bodied third tall forward, is young, and i was impressed with his brief finals campaign. He only played 5 games this year (inc. 2 finals), so is not a best 22 player yet. John McCarthy is the other - a pacy wingman, or tall enough (189cm) and capable enough to play third tall forward. I have mates who follow the juniors closely, and McCarthy is one of my more knowledgeable mate's favorites. Him, with pick 30(?) would be enough for me.

Otherwise, i want Jack Anthony or Harry O...

Brent Macaffer:

Number 30
Height 187cm
Weight 86kg
DOB 29-02-1988

Medium forward who developed well in 2007 playing for Collingwood's VFL affiliate Williamstown, after being drafted onto the rookie list at the end of 2006. Led the TAC Cup U18 competition goal kicking in 2006 as well as being named at full forward in the TAC Cup Team of the Year. Strong mark and impressive on the lead, but has also played midfield and half back during 2007 and looms as a versatile goal kicking option for the future. He was outstanding in the VFL side in 2008 winning the Joseph Wren Trophy for best VFL player. Promoted to the senior list at the end of the 2008 season.

Draft history:
2006 AFL Rookie Draft 2nd round selection (Collingwood) No. 26 overall

John McCarthy:

Number 3
Height 189cm
Weight 82kg
DOB 19-11-1989

2008 season
A surprise call-up to the senior side in round 19, McCarthy played the rest of the season experiencing a finals win at the age of 18. He was consistent at the senior level, averaging 13 disposals, five marks a game and one goal every two games. His performance off the wing against Adelaide was superb, highlighting his maturity and courage. He is a chance to see regular play next year considering his impressive start last season.

Draft history:
2007 AFL Draft 2nd round selection (Collingwood) No. 31 overall

BUT if we got Harry O!
GODDARD WOULD GO FOWARD!
and the big H also has a bit of toe about him.
THEN we can go after another mid if need be,
but im sure some of our young guys have pace?

I am a big Luke Ball fan and cant get over the fact that we will lose him.

Luke brings so much more to the team than just posessions - leadership, integrity, and good old fashined g&d. Unless its an absolute gun or top 5 draft pick I cant see any deal being equitable in my eyes. Burgoyne for Ball straight swap is never going to happen but thats how highly I rate Ball.

I want to bury my head in the sand and make it all go away ...Lukey - change your mind !

From who is up on trade i am worried about what is going to happen in the luke ball trade. We dont need fev we already have one of the best forward lines in the comp and there is no room for him and we all know about his behaviour. I doubt we will be getting Burgoyne since we landed lovett and there really is no one else so it looks like a draft pick and dud player for luke ball.

Now we have Lovett and no First round pick, we need a lst round or very low 2nd round for Luke. If Collingwood trade their lst round pick to Sydney, we may have to look at Melbourne or Richmond.

He is just another pumped up collingwood dud

They are still trying to work out how they wasted a No2 draft pick on him

There's probably only a few ways this trade would make me satisfied,
1. Pick 14 for Ball
2. Pick 30 and a player for Ball
3. Swan for Ball
4. Pendlebury for Ball
5. Beams for Ball
6. Sidebottom for Ball

If they can't do any of these, FCUK OFF!!!!

Which Ball, left or right?

I don't know about Dick, but surely Ball for Goldsack would be a fair trade.
