Asolutely BS if Lyon wanted him out he would've been traded already, Luke is asking to be out this is Luke decision not anyone elses, don't try and pin this decision on anyone else.

I can understand many of the 'POSSIBLE" reasons and understand the 'Value' we/ the club may now getSainterK wrote:What concerns me the most, is that he must of fallen out of love with the club
One of my favourite players, very much so...
but this reason is also why I feel saddened..

true, but he won't have the updated 2010 one that is being worked on as we speak.saintsRrising wrote:The only problem with losing Ball is that he will take some of our game plan IP with him....

Why would you say that?SaintWodonga wrote:I reckon RL has squeezed him out. I get the feel RL is happy tonight.
Luke Ball and his manager have had a new 3 year contract on the table since June.
Do you really believe that the Club would have offered him a 3 year contract if the coach didn't want him?

HE wants gone fine but unless we get something of equivalent value no way. AFL teams have yet to really work this out but in the US teams rarely ever trade with contenders as they know it could come back to hurt them
Collingwood is a contender therefore if not reasonable sned him to pre season and he can learn "it a grand old flag..."

Of interest
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/l ... 5783067248Ball will play for less at Collingwood than the new deal the Saints have put to him. Ball has been loyal to the Saints since being drafted at No. 2 in 2001, but wants to play where he feels wanted as a key contributor.

The best thing about Ball leaving is the massive space it leaves in our salary cap.

Well if he's had a contract for 3 months and doesn't like it, then it isn't so much as falling out of love, as falling out of love with what's been offered.SainterK wrote:I am still getting my head around "wants to go"
The question is: If the club offered him $600k per year for 3 years, would see still seek a trade?

Aah yes , the old 'widows mite' sent to Chris Grant, to stop him leaving. Great idea..... Is it ok for a big kid to send $10 ??Goose is king wrote:Has anyone got a cute little kid that can write with a 20cent piece for Luke.
So sad to read this - that's all I needed to end what has been one crapola of a day

I wouldn't mind seeing a three way deal with Sydney involving us getting someone like Daniel O'Keefe.
Something along the lines of
Sydney get Fraser, Pick 14, Pick 30
Collingwood get Ball, Jolly
St Kilda get O'Keefe +2nd round pick or a player like Wellingham
With later draft picks evening up the deal if necessary

Oh, I heard he was offered $500k at Collingwood.ausfatcat wrote:Milton see my post above, apparantly will play for less than the contract the saints offered him, so it doesn't seem like a money issue.
No doubt, they'll make him an Ambasador for Lexus... just like Visy/Judd.

Oh, ok then. If some one reckons he's better value then good luck to them. The problem then is that he's become a fair player in a strong team.SainterK wrote:He said he wants to go where he feels more of a key contributor...
If we were sitting in 12th possy then he'd be a bigger contributor.
He might just get his wish in the PSD and end up at Freemantle where he'll be a major contributor.

What about that photo posted on this site of a man in tears in the rooms after the GF ???
What were those tears about?
Shattered like the rest of us because of his love for the Saints.
Or tears because he had already decided to leave and knew he had blown his chance of grabbing a medal before clearing out his locker?
I know this is a professional sport and generally these days players follow the money and opportunities.
But I thought Bally was better than that.
