How about this?
We trade Luke Ball for Pies' first rounder + a player.
We then on-trade their first rounder(14) as well as ours(16) to Port for Burgoyne.
So:
In: Burgoyne, Pies player
Out: Ball, pick 16

We can only hope so now...
The key is getting Burgoyne to realise wearing poo & p1ss colours is almost as bad as teal.
Shocked & disappointed at Bally's decision but it makes us a big player in trade week now.
Burgoyne has to be the priority. I'm sure that Ross is on the phone to Chocko now asking who he likes on Collingwood's list. It may have to be Pick 14, 16 & a player on the table.

Lot of people dismissing Lovett for some reason. I know he has a history of poor character, but if we can sort him out he would be a stunning addition to the list. The bloke tore a few games to pieces this year.
Let's get him in part of the Ball deal somehow.
With Ball going we lose character and bravery. However his kicking had become putrid, and the game at Telstra Dome had passed him by. We can benefit out of this. Geary and Armitage get more game time now, they can be better than what Ball was in 09. Let's get some pace into the side....if it's not Burgoyne, then it's Lovett

Bring back the Lockett era
14, 16 and a player is too much. I'd take Lovett for Ball, which means a three-way with Essendon. Who's the makeweight? How about Fraser?Animal Enclosure wrote:It may have to be Pick 14, 16 & a player on the table.
Collingwood gives Josh Fraser, gets Luke Ball
Essendon gives Andrew Lovett, gets Josh Fraser
St Kilda gives Luke Ball, gets Andrew Lovett

If they are only offering only pick 14 for Jolly, we will be very lucky if they offer pick 14 for Ball as well. No way we will get pick 14 + a player.
But if they don't offer pick 14, there is only one player I could see them offer who could be of value to us and that is Paul Medhurst. Fits the third tall need perfectly. Maybe they might have to add something, but what does everyone think of that?

Harry O for Ball? All day 24/7.
Release either BJ or Fisher to the fwd 50. Armo becomes #2 in and under mid.
Problems solved IMO.
Medhurst = damaged goods IMO.
Dissapointed with Luke's decision. Hopefully it's not the money, coz he has to realise he's worth much less these days... especially in a strong team.

Exactly what I was thinking, Medhurst was good in 08, had a slow start in 09 and a poor year though. Would have him in his 08 form.Saintersss wrote: But if they don't offer pick 14, there is only one player I could see them offer who could be of value to us and that is Paul Medhurst. I wouldn't mind that but he seems to be highly rated by Collingwood and they'd probably say no to that.Milton66 wrote:Harry O for Ball? All day 24/7.

Face it if a deal is done with Collingwood the following will happen.
1. Their first rounder is for Jolly
2. They have proven in the past they wont give up good young players
So that leaves us with with either a fringe player and or a 2nd round pick.
I don't like it that he is going and I don't like it that he's going to Collingwood because of the above. We are going to get ripped off big time if the deal does get done with Collingwood.

Pick 14 & 16 aren't worth as much as previous years for obvious reasons.
While Bally's value has fallen at St Kilda, at Collingwood he is worth gold. They have no inside mids outside of O'Bree & Pendlebury (who should play the Dal Santo like role) is their best clearance player.
I can't see Luke entering the PSD & going to Melb or Rich so the if the Filth want him, they can pay up.
Their first pick & a player is appropriate. Forget McLean & pick 11, Bally is three times the player & ten times the citizen that McLean is.
I know Anthony is a dud but he is would be worth a look as that 3rd forward we are desperate for.
Would we have to change our tune if Daisy ended up in red, white & black!

Think your a spot on. A ruckman would be their priority. Now Paul Roos may be more inclined to get their first rounder as they could miss out. Leaving collingwood with not much to get Ball.ausfatcat wrote:Face it if a deal is done with Collingwood the following will happen.

Only way i reckon Ball will go to pies, is if a 3rd club is involved.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
