Its not a great loss that it once was, allthough thats the not the point.
On the bright side, the positive's:
Clears a LOT of room in our salary cap. Ball was one of the 17 most highest payed players in the game on his previous contract.
Gives someone an opportunity to stand up. Armitage/Steven/Geary now get a chance.
Ball will demand something of quality from the Pies surely?

On top of the Nathan Brown speculation we are fast turning into the land of soft c**k gumbies.
Ah well.....someone had better step up big time cause its now official- we have 1 true, bona fide in and under mid in Lenny Hayes......and we all saw what happened when he was stopped....
Agree time to bring up Armo or Geary or Stevens
NO WAY TO DAVIS OR BROWN!!!!!!!

Luke Ball....you have broken my heart. I'm actually nearly crying - you were my favourite player since you started - I went from Robert Harvey to you.
I never thought you would leave this club. You seemed like such a loyal, true Saint. I guess not.
God I'm devastated. I hope more than anything that this is not about money, I would be even more disappointed if it is. If he thinks he won't be playing if he stays at the saints, then I guess I can understand it...but still. Collingwood? That's just making it a million times worse.
How could I watch him running around in their colours?

Re: A smart move on his behalf...
spot on about replacing O,BreeWinnersOnly wrote:BALL is a smart lad and I bet the PIES have offerred a lot more $$$ than we were prepared to pay. The other thing is his playing longevity - when you look at the PIES list with OBREE nearing or at the end he is the perfect fit for them without too many fighting for his position.
If he was to be at the SAINTS the way things were looking he could have been squeezed out of the side permanently within a year or two. It is the obvious move to consolidate his playing future - you cant blame the lad.
But what or who do we get in return ?
Luke seen as the replacement...........they targeted him.............$$
Luke smart...weighed up options........business........OUT show mw the money....etc

yep mtrxctr. we must move on. i think i put on another thread that you can teach a player to tackle but if he cant kick 50m, he cant kick 50m and Bally has shown that he cant kick long at all. Misson has had his say.matrixcutter wrote:no longer will i yell out "great work bally!!"
after a big in and under get dishing out to lenny
yeah im pretty disappointed too
but shite happens now
he wants out and i reckon it was playing time maybe??
anyhoo would be offered more time on the ground

tef dont stress remember last year all the talk about Nathan Carrol ect ect Ross knows what is going to work and what isnt in the end Ross said that anyone no matter who they are if they were not prepared to do what was asked of them for the team then he will gladly move them on ... luke obviously didnt want to do what the team wanted him too so he go's ...Teflon wrote:If the club took Leon frking Davis Id be ropable.

Wow. Just read the thread. I can't believe it. I never though he'd be traded. I just thought that it was a bit of hocus pocus. Sadened and agree with many posters that I can't see how we can be fairly compensated if we receive a pies player. Also agree that maybe it could be a part of a 3-way deal. If it was a part of a fev/burgoyne deal, then it would be sad yet it would be good for us. I feel that armo is ready to step up for the role with steven not too far behind. Arggh.

Any by the way...what do we do if Armo goes to the Gold Coast? Then what in and under player do we have?
Shattered.
And he has a contract offer since June??? So this has obviously been on his mind for a while.

He is/was one of my favourite players and I wont hold back.
Has been payed more than handsomely and probably well above what his imput has been. Then chose to walk out on us a week after losing a GF...

glad the other boys who committed themselves to the team for less cash are prepared to stay.
hope ball can get a run somewhere else, good bye and good luck.
at the end of the day, if our management department thought he was worth the money he seeks, thats what they would pay him.
