Don't want Davis. He'll be 29 next June, and goes missing in big games more than Milney. I'd say a 3-way trade of some sort would probably be the best option.#1GILL wrote:Collingwood supporters offering Davis on SEN. in the end its all about footy ... im sad to see him go but hey there is no room for romance as a footballer Bally has only a few years to make the most of his skills befor they fall away really quickly ... honestly he would love to stay im sure but he wants to play footy not watch and he has to think of his future in regards to money ... thanks for your time bally i will miss ya but let it be known once you pull on another jumper your open game for us !!! .....
i think the sadddest thing is Luke is the first of the group who made the pact to stay together to acually ask to be moved on ....

Should have stayed in bed this morning. This has been a crap day.

This is a long way from being a done deal. The Pies don't have a great record of getting deals done. If Brock McLean is worth pick 11 then Luke Ball is worth more than that.
They'd have to give us their first pick and a player (a real player, not Monkhurst or Francis).
If it falls through (and there's every chance it will) will Ball go somewhere else or stay with the Saints?

While it is disappointing Luke is leaving, it seems a bigger picture has to be looked at.
When Ross can drop players like Milne and Dal Santo and trade Luke Ball it seems that if you dont do the team thing consistently at the Saints that you will be on the outer ...
I believe this is short term pain for long term gain ...
Saints style of footy is tough and uncompromising and if you cant cut it ... you're gone ... or put on the back burner til next trade period.

A smart move on his behalf...
BALL is a smart lad and I bet the PIES have offerred a lot more $$$ than we were prepared to pay. The other thing is his playing longevity - when you look at the PIES list with OBREE nearing or at the end he is the perfect fit for them without too many fighting for his position.
If he was to be at the SAINTS the way things were looking he could have been squeezed out of the side permanently within a year or two. It is the obvious move to consolidate his playing future - you cant blame the lad.
But what or who do we get in return ?

Simple way to get more game time, play better and play to Ross's plan. I feel rather sick in the stomach.

If the club took Leon frking Davis Id be ropable.
On top of the Nathan Brown speculation we are fast turning into the land of soft c**k gumbies.
Ah well.....someone had better step up big time cause its now official- we have 1 true, bona fide in and under mid in Lenny Hayes......and we all saw what happened when he was stopped....

Re: A smart move on his behalf...
So so gutted that thinking that Luke's going because of more $$$ makes me even more gutted than ever...Even if I (try to) understand why players want to go to other clubs because of more $$, I would have still thought that a strong and valuable player like Luke, who lots of us admire and cherish, wouldnt have chosen to go and stayed with us until the end of his career...Fortius Quo Fidelius...Maybe I'm a dreamer...WinnersOnly wrote:BALL is a smart lad and I bet the PIES have offerred a lot more $$$ than we were prepared to pay. I am shattered, this is such a hollow feeling...
Honestly can't see us getting anything half decent in return...
If he wants out hopefully he'd be willing to go to Port/ WCE so we could get a Kerr or Burgoyne in return... but right now it's no real consolation...
