Luke Ball seeks trade
Wed, Sep 30, 09St Kilda Football Club wishes to advise that Luke Ball informed Saints Senior Coach Ross Lyon late this afternoon that he would like to be traded and that Collingwood is his Club of choice.
Despite having a three year contract offer from the St Kilda Football Club since June, Luke has decided to pursue his career elsewhere.
St Kilda Senior Coach Ross Lyon said, “We are extremely disappointed that Luke has come to this decision. We were confident Luke would stay with the Club, as he has always been a required player.
However we will now do what is best for the St Kilda Football Club's interests and those of its members and supporters with the aim of completing an equitable trade for a person of Luke's calibre, leadership, playing honours and experience.â€

Wow what has gone on?
Obviously the clubs offer was no where near what Luke thought was reasonable - hopefully both the club and Luke can get something out of his departure. We can blame GT for this as he was on an over inflated contract in the past.
It doesn't come as a surprise but am still shattered to see a guy of his quality leave the club.

I would have thought playing him with OP was more to blame.WinnersOnly wrote:Obviously the clubs offer was no where near what Luke thought was reasonable - hopefully both the club and Luke can get something out of his departure. Despite respecting his decision and thanking him for what he's brought to St Kilda, I must say that I'm very very disappointed in Luke's decision, very sad indeed... ;( I thought that he would stay a Red White and Black for longer and maybe the rest of his playing career...bump! mistake. It would be really interesting in knowing the real reasons and I do not want to think that it is because of more $$.

Always sad to see a player go, even moreso for a player who commanded respect like Bally. I hope the issue isn't purely financial. But the question must be asked, why Collingwood? I hope we can broker a 3-way trade, because the only players we would want from Collingwood they wouldn't get rid of.
I guess we'll never know Bally's reasons, but all the best at your new club, Luke.
