And before you get all narky, I see your point of view.
Comparing Burgoyne and Cousins is chalk and cheese.
Does anyone know the REAL reason we didn't get him?
Facts tell us we jumped at shadows.
Guy did his hammy once - so did Lenny big deal.
Burgoyne is a ball carrying mid who kicks goals.
Cousins is a ball carrying mid (not as quick but not slow) who kicks goals.
Wheres the cheese?
Anyway IF we fill the gap with Burgoyne - great. Only downaside is its gonna cost a LOT more and maybe Luke Ball.

Cheese is the age difference. Burgoyne does what BC can do.. and hopefully do it for a few years longer.

BC never played for us, yet here you are 12 months on still wishing him here?
Epic fail teffers, epic fail.
Possibly the worst fail I've ever seen and F*** haven't I witnessed some epic fails...
You seriously don't know why he was overlooked by

Apart from your top 10... no player is indespensible IMO. As much as that hurts, it's the harsh reality of a psort where you can be the best team all year and still be deemed a failure due to 1 loss.
That said, you have to wiegh up what you get against the sum total of what you're letting go.
Ball is a great clubman, and ok as a player, but with Lenny and Armo there, you can see why his spot would be on thin ice if Burgoyne was of interest.

He has never had the chance to play for a serious premiership contender.
There are many older players who die for the chance, just ask Max.
My doubt is whether he can get his body reliable enough to be trusted in a grand final.
He would certainly command a little more respect from opposition coaches than Gwilt, they may even play an opponent on him.
This year he looked slow and overweight. Didn't look like somebody who was doing his bit to get Richmond out of the trouble they were in.
Form and injury aside if a footballer was in the last year of his contract, you would think he could have at least got rid of the extra weight and given himself the best possible chance to win himself a new deal.
Surely if someone was desperate to prolong his career that would be the least you would expect, no?
Spot on - overweight and slow this year. At 32 not good selling points!!

Oh and on the Whitnalls, FFS you'd have them both at our club just to ensure the implosion with Cousins...spare me...

Yawn, Teffers, yawn.
Thankfully the mighty Saints decided in my favour and that rotten little turd never came to us.
So because he's not with us, it is an epic fail to you Teffers, yet you still think not. Major LOSE.
But by all means, go on - do you think he would have won us the flag last week?

Lets turn the question away from your "values" for a second Mother Theresa..........do YOU reckon Cousins wouldnt have been a useful addition to our GF midfield last week?

Damn, same time.
No, I don't think he would have had any influence at all last week or through the year.
Our mids wouldn't have been as dominant, and apart from Th Great Man Robert Harvey, we are a team, not an individual superstar saviour...
Seriously.

Sorry to interrupt, but it's actually a really good question to pose in light of this thread...
Do you reckon Nathan Brown would have been a useful addition to our GF forward last week?
This will probably answer if this is a worthwile pickup not....
Please feel free to continue

A fully fit and committed NB with a Saints pre-season and signed up to the trademark - yes, for sure.

I can answer that - would Nathan Browne have ensured that Sneider, Milne kick straight?
AND had Nathan Browne played....would Sneider/Milne played or one gawn....
or...when Bartel shut down Hayes and Ling Dal Santo to 17 touches could we have used an additional midfielder that also kicks goals and frees up a Goddard?
