I am a bit of a Sound of Music tragic.

Not only do I know the words and music to every song (both vocally and on the piano), and often play the songs on the piano, but ten years or so ago, I went on a trip to Austria just so I could go on the Sound of Music tour. Went to the Abbey (which is still a silent order), went to the Gazebo (where they sung 'I am 16, going on 17') - the gazebo (which was supposed to be at the back of the house) is about 100 miles away from the front of the house.

I read a very old biography of Maria Von Trapp many years ago. She looked NOTHING like Julie Andrews! I have seen some nicer photos subsequently, but the photos in her biography were not flattering. I am not sure how to say this more delicately, but even as a young woman, it looked like the years had not been kind to her. Of course, she had a rough life - she had been an orphan since she was 7.

I also read biographies of Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II, to understand more about the show.

Apparently there is a place in the US where the Von Trapp family still sing. I want to go there some time.

Anyway, what's this got to do with St Kilda?
Well,

1. It was around this time that the Saints changed their jumper away from the German colors. SO you could take that as a sign of solidarity with the Von Trapps.

2. Just like the show says, "I have confidence" in a bright future for the Saints.

3. Geelong are evil; just like the Nazis. They are a scourge of the planet and it is about time the rest of the world united against them.

um, that last one might suggest I still have some unresolved issues from last week. Not sure, though.

I like the movie to Mark, But you could almost set your DVD recorder to it being shown the first week after the season finishes

and anyone want to lay money on Mary Poppins appearing in the next few weeks as well.

I have the autobiography to
Rogers and hammerstein were too into sensibilites to mention she was pregnant whilst climbing over those hills with all those kids in tow.

Am partial to the movie also and last year stayed at the US military resort "Edelweiss" in the Bavarian alps.

Ventured into Austria and just loved the whole experience.

The hills are alive with the sound of 2010.

Very rude when Mother Superior says to Maria

"What is it you C@@t Face?"

Really for a Nun that is pretty crude - especially to virginal Julie Andrews

Lance or James??

Nah - one of those foul mouthed Nuns would have knocked off its distributer cap and leads.

Thieves and foul mouths - the lot of 'em
