LUKE BALL and 2nd ROUND for FEVOLA... YES or NO?
this seems to be the going deal...
At first its seems HELL YES! A coleman medalist a top 10 AFL player... who can win games and do anything on the day then I think about character team building, players that ALWAYS put in 100% not just for themselves but the team.
We should keep luke ball. We can win the next 2 flags with these boys they are great. T.Lynch will be ready, Gwilt will step up. Maguire will be ready to go after a full year in the VFL. Dont forget people this team we have now is the greatest we have ever had they wont fall over because of a grand final loss.
Keep Bally he is part of the family. To screw with that i think youll take away some of the motivation.
We dont need fev. Id love him but he cant control his emotion on field and off.
Anyway what you think?

Our round 2 is pick 32 which is the equivalent of pick 48 in a normal draft.
That's only a little above a pig in a poke selection territory so I don't mind losing that for some value.
Koschitzke and Riewoldt don't always work well together.
Koschitzke, Riewoldt and Fevola in the same team just wont work.
Besides Riewoldt and Koschitzke may not catch many opponents but they do chase and harrass causing the ball to end up in a tackle by one of our smalls.
But with Riewoldt, Koschitzke and Fevola in the same forward line the forward pressure will be too easily released - like when Gehrig was there.
XXX NO DEAL XXX
If you must trade Ball and I would hate to do it, far better to go after someone who will fit the team better - maybe Salopek or Daniel Kerr or Ryan O'Keefe.

I hope he signs it immediately, but if he delays it is because he is hoping for more from somewhere.saint75 wrote:No to Luke Ball. Yes if it was Goose.
Mute point I believe as Luke has a contract in front of him as we speak.

We do not want Fev - we traded Hall and Everitt who were a couple of bad apples (good players, but hardly the model we needed). Why would we reverse that approach by knowingly taking a rotten apple?
We should keep Ball. He has had some issues it seems (or been the subject of some issues). But he is a strong character, and the sort of person we need. He is a good leader, and a role model. He is slowly coming good, and should be given the opportunity to get back to his best with the team he has developed with.
No to Fev!
Keep Ball!

Some of you blokes obviously forget 2004 when Gehrig, Hamill and Roo all played in the forward line.
This forward pressure business is a herald-sun opinion. You read it in the newspaper and then think it's fact. It would be nice if people learned at school how to think things through.
JUST THINK ABOUT IT FOR A MINUTE...
Imagine a forward line with Roo, Kozi and Fev. Now imagine being the opposition selection panel. MUST pick 3 talls - Who may be quite slow. So, you're gonna have a slow forward St Kilda half - for both teams, than if we keep going in with 2 forwards. But nobody is ahead and nobody is behind - it's just down to the quality of those backs vs forwards. NOTHING TO DO WITH LOSING FORWARD PRESSURE BY HAVING TOO MANY TALLS.
PLUS, even by your own stupid logic, Fev has done some nice harassing defensive work at times this year.
Goose, Leigh Fisher and pick 32 for Fev, if Carlton agree to pay half his salary. Carlton get the backline depth they desperately need and a lucky dip in the draft, we get one of the game's best goal scorers.

Yes to Fev... no to Bally being part of the deal.
The only way that Bally will leave is if the offer currently on the table is not good enough for him. If that eventuates then we should do our best to get the best possible return for him, be it Fev or a quick midfielder like Danyle Pearce.
After seeing the emotion that Bally showed on GF day, I can't see him going. I'm sure his manager will be telling him that he's still worth $600k but on current output he isn't worth that to St Kilda. Especially when you consider the improvement in BJ, Gilbo, Chips, etc and the dollars they will be expecting.
With only a few clubs interested in Fev, Carlton may be tempted to accept Goose & pick 16 and pay a percentage of his wage. On Fev's part, if he's committed to be a Saint forgoing some of his wage to be a potential premiership player is a necessity.

QUESTIONS Re FAVOLA?
It is said that there is more to come out. What? and When?
Is alcohol his ONLY problem?
Is he an alcoholic? or a binge drinker?
When was the last time he was drug tested?
Has he tested positive in any drug test? 3 strike policy?
A lot of commentators are calling for him to go into rehab. Why?
Is this another Ben Cousins type scenario?
These, and many more questions need to be answered before even thinking of ANY trade for him !!

yes and yes.
its not about can you change somebody, its about do they want to change. do they want to be apart of the culture. do they have the drive.
if he has the driven and can make the choices, then his a man stepping up to the plate. i believe in what Ross said...we do have unfinished bussiness, if your not prepared to work harder..then go.
If fev is making the changes, is willing to put his body on the line then he should be considered a shot at the saints.
can a deal be done? not likely.

Hypothetically probably a good deal as in Steven and Armo we have younger fitter versions of Ball already and low pick is a lottery (mind you it did give us Sam Fisher, remember).
That said, Ball is a quality bloke who will bleed for us.
Fev is unchangeable disloyal immature trailer trash gutless s*** who will go awol at the first distant sniff of a slightly dripped upon beer coaster.
So my answer is no f****** way.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
