I am a little 50-50 on whether we should get Fev or not. I place my trust on RL and co in whatever decision they will make in being good judgement.

Sammy Hamill was a fantastic player for us whose career was tragically cut short by serious injury.
He was a beacon to our young list in terms of mental adn physical toughness.
And why was he a mercenary?
My understanding is he was offered more to play with Sydney than what we offered.
Carlton also offered to pay him what he wanted but because of Salary Cap problems could only show about 40% of his salary on the books. That coupled with John Elliot's public slagging of him made it impossible for him to remain there.
Agree with you 100%, Mr Magic.

Hamill was a fantastic pick up. In getting him (and G-Train) our membership drive for 2001 esculated. He was brilliant in a Saints jumper. He put the fear of god into opposition defenders with his presence alone. Even when he wasn't kicking goals, he was hitting opponents hard in contests which would often contribute to the team winning a game. But sadly, the injuries killed his career. A huge shame.

And if we had him on Saturday we would have won by 6 goals.

I hate it when people with short memories sprout BS.

i would take Fev's 90 goals, compared to Kosi's 40 any year
i would take Fev from outside 50, in a pressure situation, then i would Kosi
i would take Fev to beat the oppositions key backman over Kosi
i would take Kosi over Fev to injury Roo

Fev, regardless of his off-field issue is head and shoulders better then Kosi will ever be.

FEV may have bigger shoulders BUT Kosi is by far and away ahead of him in most other aspects...

Hrm I wouldnt mind Fev, but its up to the coaches.

I dont think we could have 3 big forwards (although what a dilemma for other teams to have, lol) or we'd be too slow at ground level?

I wouldnt trade Kosi or Meguire for him.

Our list is pretty nice atm, doesn't need chopping, just tweaking, although I do think Kosi players better around the ground than at Full Forward, but you cant have 3 ruckman.

I think Meguire is required still, could take Raph's spot or if Zac goes down now that Max is retired.

And I have nfi why everyone wants to get rid of L.Ball. Its pretty simple to me that he needs to take a massive paycut because he's not the greatest and has issues being injured too much. Having said that there is a gun armo coming along also :)

What if the Dogs offer Lake for Fev???? Lake wants more money...and the Blues can pay it.

An AA FB for Fev would ease the Blues masses somewhat...particularly if Everitt was thrown in.

Then they could still pick up Hall and have Fev at FF and Hall at CHF.

What the hell did Judd do wrong at the brownlow?
He did absolutely nothing to calm down a team mate who was obviously a liability. If Judd couldn't see the s*** storm that was about to erupt as a result of Fevola's antics, he's clearly not the leader everyone thinks that he is.
Judd was more interested in how much more money he could get if Fevola were to leave the club.

Aaron Hamill was amazing with the Saints. I still miss him.

And exactly that, I said to my hubby on Sunday. We needed someone like Az there on Saturday afternoon, and we would have won.

Not sure the Bullies would be throwing in Everitt as well as Lake for Fev...and would the $700K+ not be an issue for them if they already can't pay Lake what he wants?

I think the Bullies would be looking for more than just Fev for Lake...he IS their backline. If he goes they will have real trouble controlling opposition fwd lines, whether they get a FF or not.

Anyone doubting the value of Hamill at the Saints clearly has no idea! Was an inspirational leader and a big part in teaching many on our list, including Roo, the importance of training and preparation for playing AFL.

Short memories...

99% Carlton kicked it to Fev that doesn't happen to Kosi at the saints, so that distorts those "stats".

Just throwing it out there, but what if we could somehow pull off a 3 way trade with extras, bu the key personnel being Goose (CHB), Fevola (FF) and Roughead (FF). We get Roughie, Hawks get Fev, Carlton get Goose. That I'd go for in a heartbeat. I know I live in fantasy land, but what the hell. Let a man dream.

I am all for Fev at the Saints for the right price, but that price is not Kosi IMO.

Whilst all the stats are fantastic, you can't make that simple a comparison.

Fev is basically the lone ranger in the Carlton forward line, he is their go to man, and is fed almost exclusively.

Can you provide a stat on the number of times inside 50's were directed at Fev as opposed to the number of times they were directed at Kosi. I would imagine Judd, Murphy and Gibbs were looking for him at every opportunity. Kosi shares the forward line with Roo and doesnt get the same supply. I just don't think the stats are an apples for apples comparison.

Hey, so in my fit of anti-Fev rage I might have understated the relevance of Sammy Hamill somewhat.

See how disruptive Fev is??? 8-)

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
