we had 40 inside 50s. if we have that few against geelong, we lose. playing one of our best long kicks inside 50 isn't going to help the ball get in there.
Maybe, maybe not, but if you check my post from earlier up this page, you'll see that I said: "He could play the role Robert Murphy played so well on Friday night. Being the "lead-up guy". Then he'd be wheeling around and pin-pointing it to Nick or Kosi inside 50. Instead of Nick having to go all the way out there, then not being in the 50."
Rooey has virtually been playing dual roles this year, as both the "lead-up guy" to the wings (especially when Gwilt, or later Dempster weren't there) and the one deep inside 50. I'm suggesting Goddard play the "lead-up guy" role that Murphy played the other night. That way Rooey could stay deep and dangerous and BJ would be getting most of his possessions between the 50 and the wings (as Murphy did) and then he'd be the one kicking it to Roo or Kosi.
If Murphy had had a Roo or Kosi to kick it to on Friday they'd almost certainly have won. Geelong last night had Stevie J running amuck in the same role, with Mooney and Hawkins deep. We have Rooey trying to do both roles. He got us over the line against lesser opposition, but this week we're playing one of the best performed sides of all time, who look cherry ripe. He needs some help.

In finals we have Roo up forward and precious little else. He needs more help. Goddard would give him that.
So you are prepared to change the structute that we have had for 23 out of 24 games that has won us 21 out of those 23 games to have BJ start up forward. Why wouldnt we go with what has worked all year. The Cats are chansing us. We dont need to change a thing.
If a loss was what we were after.
Just 9 goals for the team again.
I dare say if it had been BJ in our forward 50, we'd have won the game, especially since it was such a low-scoring encounter. Whoever took his place up the ground probably wouldn't have used it as well, but BJ is so good you'd just have to get it near him and he can make things happen. I seriously doubt he'd have f***ed up shots for goal like Milne did (3 times) Schneider did (at least twice) and Mini did. If you discount the goal Geelong kicked after the siren, we only needed one more goal.

Hey, while we are at it lets discount all of Geelongs other goals too... then we would have won...
We don't have many elite ball users in our team, so Goddard's field kicking in the midfield and backline are critical to even getting it into the forward line. It'd be a waste of talent to play him as a third tall.
