If you can brush it off and forget about it that easily then you don't understand the passion that some have for the Saints. It's not that simple. FFS. Am absolutely gutted. Will get over it but you've gotta allow people the time to grieve for another missed opportunity. They don't come around that often.

After losing in 97 the players said they would go all the way in 98..pngsaint wrote:we lost a grand final by a kick, take out the'' hit the post goal" and we were were in!

It took the club 12 years to get back to the Grand Final,it may take that long again...there are no guarantees, that's why they needed to prevail,
today...
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

passion?
we all have passion for our team,
I traveled on (shity) aircraft from an island north of niugini, 18 hrs just to get me and my family to oz to watch the game on tv.
sat with my young son and watched a great and proud team get beaten by a better team.
love the saints and will always support them, after 30 of pain I still love them.
T Barker and P Ccallery coming to my footy training at the under 10s are some of the best time of my life.
love my team, but its just a game, when u get a bit older and wiser u will understad

You are a much stronger man than me ,I will never get over it & I mean never. I 'm finding it hard to even contemplate waking up tommow this was a chance to shake the monkey. If we couldnt do it today I really dont know if we will ever do it. We had one hand on the cup we handed it to them. Maybe its just me but the last quarter they should have been floating on all the passion ,heartache that comes from 43 years of torment & ridicule but we just folded when it really counted the most.st.byron wrote:If you can brush it off and forget about it that easily then you don't understand the passion that some have for the Saints. Agree, I am shattered. PNG Saint please think before you patronise everyone with all that 'war, death, angry wives' crap. Are we supposed to feel guilty for being upset? Exactly the sort of attitude that breeds perpetual failure.stkfc_obsessed wrote:Well why are you wasting money on the internet annoying all of us.. go spend that money on the causes you mentioned..pngsaint wrote:no, not happy,

We believed. Our team didn't deliver on the day. We'll all be there louder and prouder next year and for years after that. But for now, have the good grace and sense to allow us to grieve for our team, ourselves and this opportunity lost.

We all still love the saints, we all realise that it is just a "game", that isn't going to take away the sick feeling I have in the bottom of my gut.
2009 with rational eyes was a fantastic season however the flag is the end goal and we threw away a gilt edged chance to grab one today. No matter how positive/negative a season we had nothing will erase that.

Your post sums it up so well bobmurray. Part of me didn't want to log on after getting home from the ground but the other part prevailed and your post sums up the reality of why they needed to prevail today.bobmurray wrote:After losing in 97 the players said they would go all the way in 98..pngsaint wrote:we lost a grand final by a kick, take out the'' hit the post goal" and we were were in!

I felt gutted today more than the 97 GF and I was too young to feel the pain of 71. We played better for most of the game but our finishing in front of goal was woeful. We had them on toast and should have taken control of the match.
The other disappointing aspect for me is Riewoldt often had 3 of their backmen on him today and Kosi, Milne, Schneider or Dempster could not stand up and make a difference. Milne's poor efforts in the second quarter to impact on the scoreboard hurt us and he should know better by now. We needed more from Kosi, Milne and Schneider today and sadly, like our first two finals they were not up to it.

TBH these "I love the Saints" and "But at least we can be proud" and "If Milne kicked better" posts aren't doing anything for me right at this point in time other than doing my head in.
And I'll take my own hint - I'm off. *sigh*
