Post: # 833758Post SainterK »

Fox Sports just said that Chapman and Gram tied for the Norm Smith 9 votes apiece, but that Chapman won on countback with 3 best on grounds....

The Norm Smith should go to the winning team...ultimately that players contribution has more value..

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

I'm pretty sure buckleys performance put an end to a winner from the losing team.

I thought they compensated the SOB for not winning it in 2007. He wasn't their best player, IMO.

It's not for the best player on the winning team, it is for the best player on the ground.

That said I think Chappy was a worthy winner.

I feel so dirty for having said that.

Judd's Norm Smith in the 2005 Eagles losing Grand Final would dispute you.

I know what it's for but that doesn't alter my opinion...especially if it's a
line ball decision....

Congrats to Gram on an awesome game though, fantastic effort that can encourage him to take it to that level next year...

Gram wouldnt want it. He should and probably does feel very proud about the game he played. But nothing can take his pain away but a premiership.

Worsfold would of had the final say if countback was a draw. so there was no chance.

What my 3 line message didn't change you mind??

I'm sort of with you, I just think that a player in a losing side shouldn't be discounted, especially when you are talking 1 or 2 kicks.

That said I'm not arguing against Chappy winning the medal.

30 years from now they will award Norm Smith medals to those who lost on countback just like they did with Charlie.

AS a neutral, I sort of think that a player who gets votes from 5 judges should beat a player who gets votes from 3.

Whatever system they have that's fine with me.
