Max Rooke's low act on the siren

Post: # 833508Post saintspremiers »

I left the ground as soon as the final death siren went, so I didn't see Rooke's shot at goal.

From what I hear, he arrogantly dribbled the ball through the goals, rather than taking either no kick or a proper kick.

This was because all our players were flat out on their backs - gutted.

Max Rooke - you are a lowlife doing that, totally uncalled for and unecessary.

I personnally couldn't care less about this act. As the players realised, they had lost and the difference was of now concern.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Rooke's goal should be replayed at every training session.

Sooky, sooky, saints defenders abandonned the mark and the goal line
Rooke was able to walk up to the mark and kick a low dribble goal because of the unprofeesional behaviour of St Kilda players.

Just imagine the goal umpires confur in the centre of the ground and find the scoreboard has given Geelong an extra goal.
And Geelong win by a goal that could have been stopped.
UNFORGIVEABLE.

The players should play the game out to the very end and then have their breakdown.

Even worse was the way Rooke was able to suck the defence up the field creating a space behind himself to run into.
A sign that some saints had lost the mental game as well.

Should be replayed, but not for the reason you say.

It was arrogant, the game was won, just wanted some individual glory.

We should never forget that show of arrogance, and it should spur us on next year.

Honestly ace, who really cares about a meaningless kick after the siren when you've lost anyway.

Get a grip man.

Geelong cared because it guaranteed that a scoreboard error would not rob them.

Sloopiness is the first step to failure.

Max will look at that on the replay and if he has any balls he'll regret this one.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

I might have to disagree with what might from the outside appear a fair observation.

Before I disagree i should probably reveal a fact that may have swayed my view point.

Upon hearing the siren, and realising that trailing by 6 points at this stage meant we had lost, I commenced crying into my hands like a somewhat immature school girl. I didn't know Rooke had a shot let alone scored until I looked up at the scoreboard somewhere between the 500th and 600th playing of the cats club song.

So I might be a little more forgiving of our boys slumping uncontrollably to the ground upon realising that their dream had been crushed.

On the flip side lets say they don't slump to the ground and stop Rooke's goal. Does a 6 point defecit give us the cup?? Do the Cats receive anything extra for winning by 12 rather than 6?? That would be no.

I wonder if there were any punters with money on a less than 10 point victory to the Cats...now that'd sour your celebrations.
