High Half Forward

Post: # 833530Post Unforgiven »

The biggest whole in our team. A position that Ben Cousins perfected, and that just about every premiership team this decade has had (and a good one at that).

Brisbane: Akermanis
Sydney: O'Keefe
West Coast: Ben Cousins
Geelong: Stevie J, Chapman
Hawthorn: Dew

We need a player who can be the link up man from half forward and wing/half back. A player capable of picking up 25 odd disposals, contributing 2-3 goals. A player who is strong over head, can present on the lead, and still contest at ground level and come up with a opportunist's goal in need.

We tried Gwilt and Dempster, neither have really shown a great deal, Gwilt promised but didn't come too much. Im sure Ross is keen to adress this issue, maybe with the Evritt links in the trade week.

Thoughts? Oh and this isn't based on the one loss today, sure it highlighted it in parts, it's more of an overall view on the season.

I totally agree, we need a half forward who is more than a defensive type player, they have to be dangerous. We are far too predictable going forward, we need someone to take advantage of the fact that all the focus is at Roo and Kozi.

I'd be happy to trade our first pick for the cause... or even bring in another mid (or maybe Armo) and move Joey to this position which he played well is spurts through the year...

Otherwise, we need to develop the likes of Lynch, Heyne and Steven - AND FAST!!

Kosi needs to create an alternative to "kick to Riewoldt" instead of gate crashing Riewoldt's party.

It might help if Kosi were trained NOT to follow Riewoldt's leads.
Instead of leading his opponent into a contest with Riewoldt, Kosi should be providing an alternate lead to take defenders away from Riewoldt and the drop of the ball if Riewoldt fails.

If Riewoldt leads to the flank or pocket Kosi needs to IMMEDIATELY lead up the centre.
