What would it feel like if we actually win?

Post: # 831014Post Milan Faletic »

If you are a Saints supporter like me, you know what it feels like to lose. It seems to be branded in to our personalities and we have had to live with that all of our lives.

But today I just allowed myself to take the lid off and started to imagine what it would feel like if we won.

What if we were 30 points up and knew we were going to win?

What if we were 2 points up and just got home?

Would I answer my phone?

Could I answer my phone?

Would I close my eyes or just stare in disbelief?

Would it sink in straight away?

Would it change me forever?

What would you feel like doing if the unthinkable happened and we actually won the premiership? What would you first thought be? How would it change your life?

If it was close and my reaction to last few mins of the prelim is any guide, I strobgly suspect I'll be medicated on a trolley being wheeled to an ambulance.

Reincarnated believes that the inner child will come out in alot of us with a lot of fist pumping, yelling, screaming, hugging and possibly crying

Probably disbelief

However there is a football match to be played any of us really think about it. It could all go pear shaped

Just imagine it!!! I can!

I can see Rooey holding it high above his head to a sea of faithful, tireless Red, White & Black suporters! The vision is pure magic!! :D

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

If we win the doc will present the cup. they should put a saints jumper on him when he holds it up so that justice can be served, and their is footage of the doc holding up a premiership cup in a saints jumper.

I don't think there is anything wrong at this stage to visualise the grail.

Most elite athletes will do this. However, the champions will visualise the way to reach the grail and then reap the reward and the feeling if they follow the process. I'm not playing on Saturday so I had a sneaky vision of that ultimate moment.

I think I would be devastated but would use my best St Kilda personality traits to live another day! I'm more "worried" about handling the win. Would be like losing your virginity. A little painful, but well worth the effort....and the relief

The only benchmark I can think of is the feeling I had when John Aloisi took his shirt off and ran along the sideline after taking the winning penalty against Uruguay in 2005: a sense of tearful amazement and having to pinch myself to be sure that it was actually happening.

If we win, I think the players - especially the likes of Riewoldt, Lenny and Milne - will be unbelievably excited and we'll all get swept up in that: a bit like how many of us I'm sure felt when Aloisi was running around.

At some point in time afterwards, most of us will notice that the world is still turning, our thoughts have moved on to another preoccupation, and we will probably have a momentary thought along the lines of "is that all there is to being a supporter of a team that has just won the premiership"?

It's a feeling I'm very much looking forward to having.

If we lose, I know I'm old and strong enough to cope. But I will undoubtedly feel something like "are we ever going to win another one in my lifetime?"

Over the last 10 years, every time I thought about what it would be like to win the flag, I thought of the premiership medal being presented to Harvs.

"Number 35, Robert Harvey"

This year I adjusted my thinking to consider Max getting a medal.

Now I think I'll lose it if/when they call out:

"Number 7, Lenny Hayes"
