I live 15 mins south of Gold Coast airport and I just saw a plane fly over me. It was coming down to land and i could see it very clearly visibility didn't seem to be an issue.
Also spoke to jetstar 5 mins ago and said should be all good tomorrow and that only some flights were cancelled today.
We'll get there....No doubt!

Bev i hope you can find some way of getting there! there are trains from Brissy to Melb goes through Sydney,
bloody sandstorm, we got it up here about 5ish
I am flying out from Brissy tmw fingers crossed its all clear by then train first from Maryborough so hope no more probs,
i checked in online earlier this arvo all the seats where full and had no option to choose another seat So im guessing its all sold out except for flexi / Business class with Qantas they where about $600 1 way ( for the 1.55pm)
Is there a standby queue?

It doesn't help that the Broncos and their supporters are flying down from Brisbane and the Gold Coast to attend the Storm-Broncos match on Saturday night. I'd be trying to fly to Darwin or so then getting a flight to Melbourne.
Hope you all make it - don't want to miss an important game.

I'm up on the Sunshine Coast on holidays - drove up straight after the Prelim last Friday night.
I had booked a flight back on Wednesday afternoon 4:40pm to Sydney, wait for a couple of hours and then flight to Melb arriving at 10:00pm.
Now the reason I had booked Wednesday afternoon flight was so I could go to the traditional THURSDAY training session. I was PO when I found it was not open to the public, and you had to be there on Tuesday.
Anyway, the 4:40pm flight was cancelled because of the dust storm. I was offered a flight tonight, but no guarantee that it would actually get to leave. So I declined and I'm booked on a 6:15pm flight tomorrow night - direct to Melbourne.
It seems strange that such a seat was readily available given the probelms others are having securing flights to Melbourne, but I'm happy with the arrangement - I get an extra day on the Sunshine Coast that I previously wasn't going to get.

Shades of the 05 GF when Eagles fans (well those with passports lol) were flying Perth-Melbourne via Singapore just to get a flightLion Cozi wrote:It doesn't help that the Broncos and their supporters are flying down from Brisbane and the Gold Coast to attend the Storm-Broncos match on Saturday night.
