The Foreshore
We (three generations of rabid Saints fans) are heading to Melbourne from country Vic to soak up the Grand final action this weekend & whilst we are not going to the 'G , we would like to be at the next best venue.
Is the St kilda foreshore the go?.. or Fed square?.. or Crown?
We would prefer to be among our own tribe (or a predominately Saints crowd)
...And another thing, lf it rains at the foreshore, do they have a back up plan?
Aaughhh, What to do?

We're heading down from interstate TriColour, my brother and Dad have tickets, but my partner, myself and a bunch of other friends/relatives are keen to watch it somewhere festive (unless my shameless, desperate bid to get tickets actually comes through).
At the moment our thoughts are:
The Foreshore (totally weather-dependent, weather is not looking great and I would like a champers or two...no go at Foreshore!)
Prince of Wales hotel on Acland St (have emailed to double check they will have a screen, etc. Apparently they will)
Crown Casino (have a game day do at Riverside, not entirely sure whether this is outside or in the actual Casino? Anyone know?)
So still very up in the air. Keep me posted on where you might end up...I certainly would love to celebrate our boys being on that ground with likeminded supporters!

Totally agreed.
I emailed the club to see if there would also be a screen down there, aside from the 'family-friendly' foreshore event.
'We are encouraging all St Kilda supporters who do not have tickets to the Grand Final to watch the game at the St Kilda Foreshore. There will be food and drinks, and activities for the kids. This is an alcohol-free event'.
So, I figure there is nothing on at the club. And I want cold alcoholic drinks.

The Esplanade Hotel (the Espy) is on the Upper Esplanade but liquor licensing would prevent sales at the event.Sunday Red wrote:You can't go and buy a 6-pack from a bottle shop in St Kilda??iwantmeseats wrote:ok then, where you gunna buy it if its a no alcohol event, how you going to bring enough of your own ? Cant be done, and its a shithouse decision by which ever prick made it !
Not to forget the Republica in the sea baths complex next to the foreshore.
Both places have a desperate need to be redecorated in red, white and black.
Bakers Delight in Acland St - that's more like it.
