I don't think he was simulating contact, I just think he made sure that the umps saw it.
I also think that he did it a bit in retaliation for being scragged and dragged and hit off the ball throughout the first half. In other words, I reckon he did it in hot blood rather than as a coolly-calculated piece of gamesmanship.
But I still think he did it.
It wasn't a cowardly act, but at most an ungentlemanly one.
Because I love the hard but fair way Nick plays the game, I was a tad disappointed to see him do it. But, as long as he doesn't make it into a habit like Lloyd and others, I reckon it was fair enough on the occasion.
