This is a team game and there is no room for individuals who think they are above walking through the fire.

How did Eade outcoach Ross?

The dogs were up for this and it was obvious early. They zig zagged in and out in an attempt to break down our defensive patterns however only scoring 7 goals sums up its success.

Oh dear MB. Eade "outcoached" RL again (3-0 to RL this year)? Maybe this thread has finally gotten to you. While last night was not our finest effort, I think the battle of the coaching boxes was pretty even. RL seemed to pull the right reins at the right times. If Eade had outcoached RL, I'm sure the doggies would have got up.

My darker side was thinking of bringing this up, but I thought after the game would not be the time.

Ok, statistically, RL is now the better coach.

Hats of to Eade, I reckon he did a great job, but was a key fwd short of a win.

To connect our gameplan to Eade is ridiculous.

I guess this puts th argument to rest once and for all.

The king is dead... long live the king.

Cue: comments about how lucky we were.

Hard to say Eade outcoached Lyon. After quarter time, when we took away the switch they were using so effectively, they stopped scoring. They belted us in contested ball, particularly early on. They kicked it inside-50 57 times. They only managed 53 points. They may have outplayed us in parts of the ground, but our defence stood tall. Lyon certainly wasn't outcoached.

Yeah nah pleasing positive

Some say we were lucky. Infact many are saying it.

I don't agree. The only thing we're lucky about is that a guy called Nick Riewoldt was born 20odd years ago.

And that a guy called Lenny Hayes was born 25odd years ago.

And that a guy called Nick Dal Santo was born 20odd years ago.

GF next week, and I think even the coaches would admit that in the end, it wasn't tactics that won this game.

It was sheer guts and ability that won it.

And some freakishly good footballers playing at their best.

Afterall though, the coaches job is to ensure that he has good players, and then to make sure they play at their best. If he does that, then he's done his job.

Surely Lyon will take GT into the box next Saturday.

I'm sure we've all had the dream where GT holds up one of those magnetic boards at 3/4 time while Ross outlines all the pleasing things the guys have done.

He may not have outcoached RL but he certainly coached as well as RL. He did a St Kilda to St Kilda. I think you can enjoy the week and still give positive comments to the oppostion. Doesnt mean yo are sad or stupid.

I knew my view that Eade outcoached Lyon would bring out the usual vitriol from the usual suspects. Obviously some of you come from a school of thought that the coach of the side that wins is always the better coach. So, if Gia's kick near the end had been a foot further to the right, putting the Dogs more than a goal up with 2 minutes to go, that would have made Eade the better coach in your book. But because Gia missed, Lyon is the better coach. If that's the way you assess these things, then good on you. The world must be a much simpler place for you than it is for me.

Eade took an inferior team coming off 2 six day breaks to within a whisker of beating us. He made a mess of our lock down approach. With better forwards the Dogs would have blown us away.

Nothing to do with GT at all. It's just a fact that Eade was the better coach last night, as he was twice last season. And his tactics were excellent in the second H&A game this year.

Eade has been coaching a lot longer than Ross. He taught Roos, who helped to teach Ross (and vice versa). There is a line of influence there: believe it or not, Ross didn't come up with every aspect of his game plan since 2006.

Lyon is a great coach. But even great coaches get outcoached sometimes. And sometimes their team still scrapes home. Thank god.

Glad you have come to your senses at lest in part.
