Was the choice of shorts a toss of the coin?
Just wondering why we were wearing the white (away) shorts tonight and the Bulldogs wore the Blue shorts.
Does anyone know?
Does anyone know?
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!

well of course it doesn't matter in the scheme of things, but as I said, I was just wonderingplugger66 wrote:Probably because it doesnt matter one little bit.St Fidelius wrote:Just wondering why we were wearing the white (away) shorts tonight and the Bulldogs wore the Blue shorts.

My interest is just in knowing how the AFL works and thinks. I know the shorts really don't matter, but then again when everything else is close anything that gives a feeling of supremacy can be a confidence builder.
Having said that though, and to quote SaintDooley (I think it was) from another thread, I don't really care if they play in boxers.

Well then, just who was the "home" team tonightLeo.J wrote:The Home team wears black shorts, or dark shorts...
It's tradition, just like the coin toss, just like the bounce at the start of the game.

We were the higher ranked team - we should be wearing the black shorts.
Hope we are next week - again it should be our home game as the higher seeded team.

WTF??plugger66 wrote:I seriously cannot believe this thread. dark shorts for the home side went out a few years ago if there is any type of clash.
So there is a "clash" between Royal Blue and Black FFS, give it a break with your continuing remarks on my posts, you are really starting to embarrass yourself with it IMO with your constant remarks on what ever I type.
All I stated was that I was wondering why we wore the white shorts (away) and the Bulldogs wore their Blue (home) shorts.
Yes, I do understand that is difficult for you to understand as you have previously stated "it doesn't matter one little bit"...
So if so, thankyou for your input on this topic, as you really think it does not really matter, I do agree, but I was JUST WONDERING......
I have a feeling I mentioned that before

Like i said there is no home and away shorts anymore. Hasnt been for a few years. Obviously you are a bit behind the times. We have white in our jumper so we wear white shorts against the dogs because they have blue so they wear blue shorts. I know this is very important and i hoping it will not effect our play next Saturday.St Fidelius wrote:WTF??plugger66 wrote:I seriously cannot believe this thread. dark shorts for the home side went out a few years ago if there is any type of clash.

And i embarrass myself. we win a great game of footy and you are wondering about the colour of the shorts. Now that is embarrassing.

The Bulldogs have white in their jumper as well, and as far as I know royal blue does not clash with black

A third of our jumper is white. the dogs have about half their jumper Blue. Just give the AFL a call and they will tell you the same as I already have

So each time we play Collingwood they have to wear white shorts according to your theoryplugger66 wrote:St Fidelius wrote:Yes we won a great game as I said I was just wondering, as a couple of others have stated as wellplugger66 wrote:Like i said there is no home and away shorts anymore. I am not saying that I don't believe you, all I am saying is that there is no clash with royal blue and black in tonights match, and I was just wondering why we wore the white shorts, just a simple question and really no need to go overboard about it, it was just a question that I was wondering about.plugger66 wrote:Why would that happen. Maybe i am wrong but dont both clubs have black and white in their jumper.
If you dont believe me why do you think the dogs wore blue shorts?
As I suggested in the topic title, was the decision made by a toss of the coin?
I just wondered?

I seriously can't believe that you can't believe this thread.plugger66 wrote:I seriously cannot believe this thread. dark shorts for the home side went out a few years ago if there is any type of clash.
Oh yes, I can believe it. I forgot that you are a completely disrespectful tool. If someone posts something that you don't care for just ignore it and for once in your misbegotten life shut the f..k up.
Carna Saints!!!
I believe it has more to do with the TV. Sort of like soccer, where one team plays in a dark colour and the other in a lighter one, the AFL are trying to maximise the contrast between the two teams.
There are still some places in the world that don't get great colour TV reception and the idea from soccer is that you should be able to tell the two teams apart on a black and white TV. Hence the darker and lighter strips.
We have more white in our jumper than the Bulldogs so I'm sure the AFL instructed us to wear white shorts to enhance the contrast. Following that same theory, if we had've been playing Geelong or Collingwood this week I'm almost certain that we would have been in black shorts and them in white because they have more white in the jumper. (Does anyone remember if we wore black shorts against the Pies a couple of weeks ago?)
I hope that makes sense. It is just my theory and I don't suppose it matters at all - especially as the presidents will be tossing a coin to decide who wears what next week. Although, haven't Geelong worn their white shorts in both of the last 2 GFs? Maybe by choice, maybe under instruction...?

2010 has a nice ring to it.
Hope you enjoy next week. Did you like last night. Sounds like your happy.SteveStevens66 wrote:I seriously can't believe that you can't believe this thread.plugger66 wrote:I seriously cannot believe this thread. dark shorts for the home side went out a few years ago if there is any type of clash.

It is ridiculous that we wore white shorts last night and makes no sense at all.
We do not clash with the Bulldogs strip at all.
It is even less of a clash when we are in black shorts and they are in white shorts.
It has happened in Week 1 of the finals Geelong v Western Bulldogs (Geelong in white shorts Bulldogs in Blue) and last week Collingwood vs Adelaide (Adelaide in home shorts Collingwood in white)
The rules should be very simple, outside of the Grand Final (where the teams toss for rooms, shorts etc) the highest qualifying team in each final should be in their home jumper and shorts....PERIOD.
