It certainly say alot about the team. The best defense in 40 years and we can't get one AA in the back line.
I'd take that any day, Go the TEAM!

"When we get back on November 5 and walk through that door, we're getting on a bus together and we're going down the road to a premiership. You're either on the bus or you get run over," Roo at the B&F 2007
In 2012, I'm still on the bus.

To be fair Goddard plays all over the ground and as much as Gilbert had a better year than Maxwell and Goodwin easily the selectors reward year on year performances.
Oh wait. Nick Maxwell has never had a decent year and gets into scuffles with mostly smaller players who do not really understand why the man who cannot play is having a go at them

91 and 92 was filled with saints and cats.
Champion teams will beat teams of champions.

Spot on the money. One of the best posts I have read on here for quite awhile.Bernard Shakey wrote:We have the best defense in the comp, not the best bunch of individuals.
St Kilda are a team. The rewards will come on 26 September.
We are not about glorifying individuals or individual performances. We are about the team and the team effort.

I was very disappointed for Gilbert. At least BJ made the 22 and all others were included. Still, generally (well at least to me) you have little to argue with the 22, so you still need to find someone to boot out. Gilbert lost out to momentum, which I don't think was correct and didn't reward his very consistent performance from the get go.
Who would I replace him with? I guess it would be only one spot for Bolton or Maxwell, but individually both had excellent years as well. Goodwin is a star, but purely on this year, and of course there may be some bias here, I would have Gilbert in front of him particularly as the genuine HBF.

With you on this one as well Bernard, that is the core reason behind the team success. I also believe the players have reached a point where team first sits very comfortably with them, now it's up to us as supporters to get our heads around the factsaint75 wrote:Spot on the money.
