He can. And he does.

It's just real funny when it makes people cry and start threads about him.

I don't know about crying, but this comment of GT's certainly brought tears to my eyes.
Former St Kilda coach Grant Thomas says the current draft system encourages teams to under-perform.

''There is no doubt in anyone's mind bar King Pooh-Bah that there is a problem with sides towards the bottom of the ladder being incentivised with draft choices,'' he said.

''I will go as far to say that the biggest prize outside winning the premiership is coming 16th.''

The focus had to return to it being ''distasteful coming 16th''.

I agree with his comments on the draft system. In fact, I'm on record with agreeing with many of his views.

Now I've tried to respond ina civil tone to your posts. Either you're deaf, blind, or simply too lovestruck to listen.

My thoughts are that you smell a kill, and are sucking up to other posters to try and get me.

Feel good does it?

Remember those words that will haunt you to the grave...

He offered me money.

To be fair, MB is kicking with a strong wind of logic and reason.
Why do you say that? Be objective, go through the thread, check my views on GT (and yes, I am more against than pro), then come back and be objective.

MB has logic and it is acknowledged. The anti-GT mob also argue with logic. That doesn't make either party correct, myself included.
I didn't say anyone was incorrect did I?

I think he has put his case across very well and whilst I am no GT lover myself, I think he is having the edge on you in the argument.

I'm not looking at mobs....only you v MB and he's got your measure at the moment.

Looking forward to seeing if you can produce some John Kennedy fire and brimstone.

Phil?
yes he has.

And to be honest, I am refraining from er-posting everything that's been stated about GT's failures.

So I can go down that path and reignite "groundhog" day, or can desist. I choose the latter.

If that gives him my measure, then I'll cop it, np from me.

People are entitled to their views. Everyone posts them.

I put an opinion out there for discussion. How others have handled it isn't my problem.

Sorry M66, but you must surely be a bit unbalanced if you think that the post you quoted here was directed at you in any way. I was just using rf's line about crying as an opportunity to quote GT's comment about tanking, which I found rather amusing.

As for the idea that the words "SACK LYON" will haunt me to the grave!

I've done quite a few things in my life that I feel sorry about, but the fact that I criticised Lyon in mid 2008 and suggested that someone like Bundy would do a better job isn't going to be one of them.

It was honestly my view at the time. I thought (and still think) that Lyon looked all at sea as a coach.

Then, through a process that nobody outside the club can ever hope to understand (but I'm sure that Westaway played an important part), Lyon suddenly stepped up, made a statement by dropping Milne and Dal, and threw away the gameplan that said that players should play chipalotto and retreat rather than attack the contested ball (or, if you prefer a different version of history, managed to persuade the players to reverse their curious decision to ignore Lyon's instructions and start playing this way).

Since then, Lyon hasn't looked back. And, as the record shows, I stopped criticising him and calling for his sacking.

The fact that you wanted him replaced with Bundy his right hand man is even more embarrasing than your call to sack Ross Lyon.

Bundy is an excellent football thinker who might still develop into an AFL coach one day.

Unfortunately, given that assistants are often elevated after senior coaches are sacked, the fact that Bundy got sacked as well - after speaking out publicly against the Board in GT's defence - hasn't done much for his cv.

Posters on here who knock Bundy and his achievements do nothing more than reveal their prejudices.

MB, I know Bundy. In fact I was involved in appointing him to his first coaching position (in Junior Football in the early 1990's).

Once the Board decided to sack GT, there was no way Bundy was going to stay - he was 'joined at the hip' to GT and was always going to go. Just like Hinkley resigned when Blight was sacked. Just like most of the NM assistants have been terminated. The facts of football life are that when a new Coach arrives, he invariably installs his own team of assistants.

My own belief is that Bundy's CV is viewed in the light it is because of the perception of his being 'joined at the hip' to GT more than anything else. I believe in Football circles he is considered to be a 'good thinker' on the game, unlike GT who is not, but he is tarred as a coach by his association with GT.
