Milton66 wrote:can't recall the exact name for it, but the ... (yes 3 are correct) is like a writen pause that segues into another comment or question.

And I'll tell you why it works in a moment.

But before I do, I also recall GT saying that when he knew Lyon as a player, he did not believe he had a strong enough personality to become a coach... or words to that extent. Apart from being wrong, he must have an ego the size of Grand Canyon for actually believing that he can tell who can coach or not. It's little wonder, therefore, that he ever stepped aside, given that according to him, he didn't think anyone was better suited than himself.

But I do digress...

Reincarnated praises Milton66 due to the creation of a thread that is reaching Reincarnated-like heights of posting...

And you forget to add "stupidity" at the end.

So what was I talking about at the top of this post?

Oh yeah, I was going to tell you "more about this later"...

What was I referring to? Trick comment.

Once again, I cannot recall the guy's name, but a Russian psychologist defined this as great way to keep people reading your material. Why? Because humans need closure... or they "need to know".

So if you use a phrase like "I'm about to explain why GT is a cabbage. But before I do that, I'd just like to mention...".

So what I've done is open a loop, or left you with an unfinushed explanation.

Therefore, if there is a message I want you to absorb, I put it after the opening.

And because the GT worshippers will be dying to know why I think GT is a cabbage, they are lore likely to read the entire post, in order to have closure on my openng statement.

Make sense? Probably not.

Anyway, that's today's sales copy lesson for ya...

Back to the OP. Yes GT should be able to comment on other coaches. .
1/ Conversations and threads do evolve....so not eveything needs to be directly on the OP

2/ Yes GT is in the media and as such is free to comment of AFL coaches...and players.

However just because he is free to comment it does not mean that we are not free to consider his comments and to then make our own opinions on his comments.

I particularly liked his comment on Lyon at the start of this year...you know the one where GT stated that Lyon did not have what it took to be a coach and GT knew this because he use to play with Lyon. = Wrong

Or last seasons pre-season pearler where GT backed up Brereton's comments by saying that he GT had "seen the signs" of Banger being passed it. = Wrong as Banger had a very good year.

Now not all GT's comments are wrong, but my conclusion is that he is one of the least knowledgeable and incisive "expert" commentators in the media.
well thats probably why he is now only on footy classified. and once his contract threre is finished, he may not not be in the media at all.

although if we make the grand final i am sure he will have many comments! if god forbid we don't make the grandfinal or don 't win the the grand final then he will be asked to make comments all over the place!

and yes he is free to do so! unfortunaley it appears that the saints ex coaches like to coments alot about the saints. other ex coaches from other teams don't do so as much!

A line between...yes there is this concept called a paragraph   ....and yes everyone is allowed to use paragraphs.
Ooh look at Mr fancy man, with all his 'paragraphs' and 'punctuation'... :P
My English is poor but i didnt realise that SRS wrote only one line paragraphs all the time.

I must have missed that, could you show me the exact quote?

It was on Footy Classified...so showing you the exact quote would be somewhat difficult.

However it was detailed on a thread on this forum. Search and you will find it.

GT has since climbed on board the Lyon bandwagon.....but how could he not given the way we have played this year.

Who says I despise him? But it is hard to overlook some of his more outlandish remarks such as the above. Yes, he did say it.

SRS says things often enough he then thinks they are true no matter how fabricated they are.
What's wrong Plugger.

Can't you admit that your hero GT got it badly wrong.
That is what he said on Footy Classified even if you cannot accept it.

More recently GT has almost been grovelling in his praise of Lyon's coaching....but with 20-2 on the board a bit had for GT to keep going with his earlier opinion.

Truth is that anyone who seems to hold GT accountable and looks beyond the 3 finals and 2 prelims... despises the guy?

Even if you state facts such as his sham appointment or his comments about Lyon... for some reason, it's fabricated nonsense. Go figure.

Oh but he got us to 2 prelims and within 1 kick of a GF, so verything else he did or says should be accepted?

Yes GT has NOW jumped on board...with our season how could he not.
PS I don't despise GT...I just do not regard him as a competent AFL coach and regard hima as a very divisive person not suited to a TEAM environment including the large OFF-FIELD team that you need at an AFL club.

And yes GT did interview RL about an assistants role....which is why I found his comments on Footy Classified so odd. Maybe GT was happy to have him as an assistant but not as head coach?

Which is why I asked for the exact quote, because it was at odds with what I'd heard him say previously.

That's cool, if he said it on Footy Classified it would have been reported somewhere.

Cheers

It came up when they were discussing Mark Harvey. He said that he thought Harvey was a good assistant but didn't have the right personality type to be a senior coach. He said he had thought the same about Ross though, and had proven wrong on that one.

Never been a hero of mine. Only ever had 2, Plugger and Warney. Very unbiased unlike yourself who writes in one line paragraphs and makes up things often enough until some on here think they are fact.

Be exposed for the liar you are or post examples.

As you have stated it is often..it should be easy for you...that is of course as long as you are not fabricating things.

The FC show was well after RL was appointed...so you draw the dots.

IIRC, at the time, he still considered himself the best person to coach the club, but was happy with RL's appointment because he wanted him as an assistant. And (don't quote me) he also mention succession?

He then commented that RL was new coach growing into the role etc.

Then came the "personality" comment.
