Well, I must say that I'm kind of proud, yet very embarrassed that this thread has gone to 6 pages.

It appears that if you want a long thread then you either have to mention GT or Raph.

An interesting exercise in human behaviour...

Put out something controversial and watch the natives devour each other.

It would appear that I have managed to equal if not outfox the fox himself.

Thank you everyone for participating in this little experiment. 8-)

So you not only thought up the premise of this social experiment but added the variable of having no idea of the score at 3/4 time of the 2005 prelim ?

How intricate.

Outfox??

I'm happy to talk about footy - whether the thread goes for 6 pages or 1 doesn't matter.

If you feel that having a discussion about footy is wrong and shameful, then I guess SS isn't the place for you.

What do you mean by 'outfoxed'?

And what do you mean by 'experiment'?

It probably means he was trolling for a certain reaction from you and other GT lovers and he got it.

What sort of reaction?

I didn't really see that much 'GT reaction' to be honest - except of course from the usuals.

Who? Wayne?

Sorry, you've lost me here. Isn't the idea of a forum to discuss the footy? Drawing comparisons between 05 and the Carlton is a reasonable discussion.

How can you discuss it without responding? Have I missed something here?

We played the Pies without 3 or 4 of their best.
We played the Cats without Johnson.
We played the Crows without Edwards.
We beat Dogs after Higgins, Murphy and someone else got hurt during the game.

We've also remained injury free.

We've been very fortunate this year.

But that's certainly not a bad thing. Luck is what wins you a flag. There's lots of things you need to get right within your own control, but the very nature of Aussie Rules - the oval ball, 18 guys on the park, wind, human umpires, ludicrous scheduling etc. mean that the best team doesn't always win.
It's not an even playing field.

Luck is the biggest factor.

We've had that in spades this year.

And I believe it will continue.

Look at this.....

We play Collingwood. A very average side. An average side that has just brought in Rocca.

Again, I feel our luck is in. We cop Collingwood after they got rolled pretty easily.

We'll beat them easily tomorrow. It will actually be quite scary for the remaining 6 teams.

Then, we find ourselves in the 'easy' side of the draw. We get a fortnight break, whilst the plodders in Carlton/Brisbane and the Dogs work out who will play us in the Prelim.

Clearly, they showed it, the Dogs don't want to play us.

Meanwhile, on the other side the Cats get to play Adelaide. A pretty fired up Adelaide, whom foolishly believe they've got the goods.

Then, in the GF we'll play a 'shiit scared of losing' Geelong, or an Adelaide side that we belted by 40 odd points a month or so ago, after they'd just had their confidence up after 7 straight wins.

We've created much of our own luck this year, granted. But there's plenty that you simply don't get a say in.

Like Sydney in 05, things have gone our way. And will continue to do so.

I don't know why, but this is the finally the year that the Saints win the flag. Finally the year when things go our way.

It's quite enjoyable isn't it.
And unlike some posters habit of 'selectively' quoting posts, your whole post is there.

Go knock yourself out rodgerstool.

And btw, I'm pretty certain that a mod 'outed' you as also using Violent Stool as a name on here?

Which means your protestation of never having used it would be an untruth, which would make you a liar - which you have posted as something you detest.
Therefore you've something in common with many other posters on here -we/they detest your 'baiting' posting style on here.

Methinks it's time for you to get some new material as your old stuff has become increasingly boring.
Thanks for finding this one.

It highlights how much of a liar WayneJudson is....

Yup you're right, it is to discuss... not to troll.

He started a thread having a shot at GT , and predictably out you came... because you love him so.

GT failed... you were wrong... we're on the right track now... get over it.

I didn't talk about GT at all.

Very rarely do.

In this thread, my discussion has remained focused on the topic of the comparison of Carlton last week and us in 05.

Are you sure you're responding to the right person Markp? You may be a bit confused?

Small things amuse small minds... do you really think you are being droll and clever?

Really?

Give it a rest dodgy stool.... if you think occasionally outsmarting a few kids on a footy forum is amusing then I pity you.

Outsmarting??

I'm simply discussing topics that others raise, and occasionally raising my own views.

Having said that, if cretins and morons lie and try to hijack every thread I post in - then I don't really have an issue with pointing out their stupidity.

I don't apologise for that one bit.

Why?

It somehow amuses you.... evidently to an unhealthy extent.

You probably enjoy imagining your place high above all the 'cretins and morons'...

Actually, it was a legitimate question re the comparison, and there was some good debate. But the inevitable hoopla was worth watching.

It wasn't thrown up as bait. It was a real questioning of the validity of the ex's statement.

But then the rest took over.

The most interesting part of this thread, apart from the predictable responses from some, is that when a journo makes a comment about the Saints, everyone agrees that the said journo is a tool / flog/ cabbage (take your pick) and you don't hear a word of protest.

Caro is berrated because of her looks amongst other insults.

YET...

When the journo is GT - and let's remember that he he now just another tabloid journo trying to spark controversy - that we have this emotional in-fighting and people either bagging him or defending him with vigour.

Yes, my views are clear on GT, but that does not mean I'm simply putting the boots in when I raise a thread that concerns him.

Second D.J.: It's coooold out there every day. What is this, Miami Beach?
First D.J.: Not hardly. And you know, you can expect hazardous travel later today with that, you know, that, uh, that blizzard thing.
Second D.J.: [mockingly] That blizzard - thing. That blizzard - thing. Oh, well, here's the report! The National Weather Service is calling for a "big blizzard thing!"
First D.J.: Yessss, they are. But you know, there's another reason why today is especially exciting.
Second D.J.: Especially cold!
First D.J.: Especially cold, okay, but the big question on everybody's lips...
Second D.J.: - On their chapped lips...
First D.J.: - On their chapped lips, right: Do ya think Phil is gonna come out and see his shadow?
Second D.J.: Punxsutawney Phil!
First D.J.: Thats right, woodchuck-chuckers - it's
