Re: Tarrent and Peake rumours
I agree that there are far bigger things going on at the moment but thank you for the info cos otherwise I would not have known !! I think Tarrant would be handy as he plays the Banjo and could provide entertainment at social occasions.JABBER wrote:3AW Healy and Russell said tonight, we are looking at dockers duo

I would imagine that Lyon would not be focused on it.Stillwaiting wrote:Surely we would not even be thinking about trading now,
But I would equally imagine that Drain and the recruiting guys work on it throughout the year....and that they would be doing their homework ona pool of possible targets/trades.
This their job...and what they do.
Our trades have been superb, if not brilliant, for the last 3 years...and so based on that record I would fully expect another trade this season.

Who needs good players when we do so well with rejects and players out of favour.xander wrote:Why aren't we being linked to any good players
Good players would cost over the odds....and we have a coaching panel that can bring the best out of unloved players.

how did charlie gardiner work out again??? imo Peake is another charlie gardiner. Unlike other players we picked up he isnt young (ray, dawson) nor has he shown to have talent in the past like Schneider or king. He hasn't really improved his numbers at all and is supposed to be in his peak but struggled to keep a spot in freo this year. As for Tarrant well does he even fit a need??? the only reason we took gardy & king was because we needed rucks. Just because we've had some success with trades doesn't mean we can grab anyone and make him a gun...saintsRrising wrote:Who needs good players when we do so well with rejects and players out of favour.xander wrote:Why aren't we being linked to any good players

Stillwaiting thimks that Reincarrnated is amusing
I think what Reincaranated is trying to say is that it wont matter when we win the flag who we a trading for. Stillwaiting is concenered about his own mental health as he actually understands reincaranated
I love this club
He is still recovering from our pub run the other day ahahahaBardon Saint wrote:My head hurts from reading thisReincarnated believes that us as members/posters do not have to worry about not thinking about it as our thoughts will not impede on who we do/do not trade and if/when we win this years flag

What is the point of picking out one name?
How have Birrs, Charlie, King, Dempster, Ray, Zac, Gardi, Scheneider gone?
As a group brilliantly!!!!! Even if Caharlie and Birss have fallen by the wayside.
Micahael Gardi was not classed a good player when we recuited him.
Gardi was clearly a "reject" at the time and was carrying injuries and in poor form when we took him...and was not classed as a good player when we gained him.
I was very much in favour of recruiting him.
However Gardi strengthens my point that our staff are good at gaining rejects.
Any players cuurently classed a "good" would cost us too much.
Apart from the trade costa "good" player to swap clubs would need to be paid at above market worth.
Wheres our rejects including Gardi were gained at economical salaries.

err cough cough I have not advocated taking or chasing either player.xander wrote:

What I did post was that I have faith in Drain and Lyon to do good trades...and to do good trades of players who have not delivered on their potential.
Under Lyon the saints have not had "some success" with trades...that have performed brilliantly in this regard and make no mistake these trades area vital part of achieveing 20-2 this year.
Tarrant has actually had a good year.
Obtaining by trade a good player would cost us a good player. We have no low raft picks to offer.
However trading say Maguire may gain us another fringe player that can be developed into what we need.

Not trading Maguire may give us a quality player instead.

I must be a bit slow... can someone explain to me why we need trades?
We're a bit light in the 20-22yo bracket, but otherwise I would think our greatest need is 18-year olds...
Have I missed something?
