I really need the Coll game on a DVD - has anyone managed to do that? Please PM me anyone - I would pick it up - and give free DVDs, beer or wine :)

Gram's kicking was much improved

Kosi is so important, and has such an influence when he is involved in the game

McQualter and Gardiner are very important to our team. Mini mostly always uses the ball damagingly, Gardiner's ruckwork and body work is the best I haver seen in any ruckman we've had this decade (not much competition though).

Hayes and Riewoldt are freaks.. just unbelievable.

On a negative I thought that Ray's kicking could've been better, and King was a bit fumbly and poor with his ball use at times.

-I knew Roo had a great game watching live on Sunday but could not really appreciate just how good it was until I saw his dominance while watching the replay. Just an awesome display.

- The tackles stuck and hurt the Pie players. Gilbo Lenny and Joey hit the filth with some beauties when they flung them into the ground ball and all. bjs H&S was magic.

-It was obvious at the ground (because you could see the stream of vermin crawling out of the G) but after Roo's goal in qtr 4 there was nearly detectable feeling of the spirit being sapped from the Collingwood players and supporters - like the air coming out of a balloon.

-This was exacerbated by the Saints keepings off fot the last 10 minutes of the match as Collingwood players looked more and more dejected and the Saints controlled the game and dominated.

Get to the last quarter...14 mins to go....

End up watching Roo kick that goal maybe twenty times.....

lol just freakin awesome....

You can actually hear the breaking of forty thousand Collingwood hearts...

Gold.
Collingwood supporters don't have hearts, that sound was actually their groans when they realised they had spilt their beers.

i dont like the gilbert ankle tap .....great tactic as a 'professional foul' ...but doomed to do weeks over it (if it becomes regular)

and thats the second time of late .....too risky , imo

The only problem I think we need to address is fiddling around at half forward- I would like to see more shots at goals from our midfield when they are coming down the ground, as we don't do enough scoreboard damage when we are in control.

I'd like to see them have more of a crack at that too, but I am not sure most of them can kick well enough. NDS and BJ are obvious exceptions, though NDS lacks penetration sometimes at a distance.

agree. i think we are the toughest team in it.
Fittest and hardest. I think one promotes the other.

Some of the 'at ball' efforts by both teams were pretty impressive but the telling factor was that we were able to do it all game and not just for the first quarter.

Surely that's a fitness thing.

I've waited tlll Wednesday to watch the game. I was still buzzing after the euphoria of the game. Tonight's conclusion...

Roo is first indispensable player.
Lenny is our 2nd. indispensable player.
Hardly original thoughts...

The overall defence is fantastic and Collingwood looked in trouble from midway through the 2nd. quarter but we led at half time by 10 points and at 3/4 time by 16, this largely to a couple of goals from our mistakes. The Rocca one, dare I say it, was owing to a Raph attack.

I thought NDS was less good than I thought on the day and I thought FRay was better.
I wish some of our guys could kick for goal better. We could have iced the game earlier than we did, even though we were in control from the first goal of the 2nd. half.

I think I see a dour Grand Final, I don't see us doing a Hollywood on the day, we will throttle our opponents and win by a smallish margin.

My nagging doubts

I recall after 97 Blight saying they had focused on our 6 weakest players and felt the Craw 6 weakest were better than ours. (He didn't say they were going to snipe Burke and Harvey in the 1st. quarter, but that's old news.)
After watching again today I have identified a few players I would try to exploit if I was coaching against us.

Most of them come under immense scrutiny on this board all the time. For my part, I wish I had more confidence Max's body could stand up to September footy.

Can't wait for Friday week.

Trip by hand not reportable anymore, just a free and if off the ball, maybe 50 metres.

i agree, more shots by the midfileders are required. not sure whether we could beat the others, unless more mid fielders help out in goal scoring. .

based ont he collingwood game people are now saying hold reinwoldt and kosi and the other team wins.

Stop the opposition Centre Half Forward and Full Forward and you'll probably win the match.

It's hard to keep up with modern footy.

Schnieder and Milney usually will kick a few , this was what was missing although they both did well in general play.

It would be nice not to have to rely on Nick.

Montagna used to slot a few , though cannot fault his total game at present.

Its a balance I guess between having a shot or doing the team thing .

I saw a couple of shots just drop short too on Sunday.... a little more oompf and they would have scored.

i deff agree with that
dal, joey and lenny should be aiming at at least kicking one a game each, even grammy and bj too

Have to acknowledge Jason Gram's great game. Ran his heart out.
Thought Zac did enough to get Max back into the team.
Agree with every other conclusion.
My niggling fear is lack of score on the board when we dominate so forcefully....poor goal kicking and some poor decision making going into the forward line. There are some amazing pieces of play on that replay that should have ended in goals. We'll have to get them to win a GF - you can't close a good team down for every minute of the game.
