Our most important players
I'm sure there have been threads on this at some stage but with the MVP awards tomorrow who do you think are our 5 most valuable/important players?
In order, mine are:
1. Roo
2. Lenny
3. Kozi
4. Goddard
5. Jones
Based on difficulty to replace and impact on a game. Unlucky to miss out were Gilbo, Joey, Dal,mini & Chips (all class too)

Lendog Hayes was just brilliant.
Hard as nails. So good with his disposal.
True general. He is most definately our midfield marshall and one of the most underrated mids in the comp.
Roo was brilliant....Lenny was sublime.

"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

I think it has to be:
1: Riewoldt
Structurally he is irreplaceable - the gameplan is built around him - and from a leadership perspective both on and off the field he is invaluable.
2: Hayes
The midfield is where the game is won in tough games, and against class sides there needs to be someone who stands up in the midfield and forces the team forward - Hayes is supreme at this.
3: Jones
The role that he plays can't be underestimated in importance. Winning the midfield wins you a game, and Jones invariably destroys an opposition gun midfielder.
4: Gilbert
His flexibility and rebound are really important back there. As the Max/Zac debate shows, we have quite a few good defensive backs, but Gilbo is the best rebounding back, playing on a tall or small. (Apologies to S Fisher, but Gilbo's been better this year.)
5: Gardiner
A big, angry, hard-working ruckman with presence and marking ability is worth its weight in gold. He might pop up in the forward line or take a mark in defence, or just scare the opposition at stoppages - it's part of obtaining midfield dominance.

No doubt in finals you need leaders to stand up and lead by example- and Roo is the most inspirational leader in the comp. We won because we had winners in the backline, middle and forwardline -Gilbert and Fisher stood out in the backline, Hayes and CJ in the middle, Roo and McQualter in the forward line..all stood out.
