Max Before the game
Sorry if this has already been mentioned. I had a quick look and couldnt find anything.
For those of you who were at the game and did not see the footage-
About 15 minutes before the game, Channel 7 showed vision of Max warming up. He looked really disappointed, Gutted almost. I thought straight away that was not right. I think it was Buckley who made the comment something along the lines of "That is not the look of a player warming up ready to play, thats the look of someone who had been told to chuck on warm-up clothes, kick a footy around and be captured on the channel 7 cameras"
It was really shattering to see this vision, as the look on Max's face said it all.
Thoughts? who else saw the footage?

I think FIGJAM needs to shut his mouth and think about the Filths problems instead of any we may have. He is gonna have his hands full next year.

I saw the footage, felt bad for him. He really wanted to be out there obviously.

Thought it was fairly standard for the emergency to kit up and warm up in the rooms in case of injury during the warm ups on the ground. Just unusual for it to be filmed I would have thought.
Max is a professional in every sense of the word and anyone who thinks he is going to sook up at not being selected is not paying him the respect he has earnt over 14 years.

Didn't see that, disappointed for him. On the other hand, if we play Dogs I would think he would be under consideration. They have a small forward line and still think Max has that ability.

Can we get over this by any chance? If the need arises he will be there...
This is really getting overplayed now, like a bad record really.
I love Max, he has bled for the club, I hope he gets a chance, but perhaps the idea today was to help him feel a part of it.
Zac has now played 20 games for the year...how many for Max?
Another thread on this...we gunna have one every week?

thread was not so much about whether or not we can find a spot for him, but rather how he is dealing with it. To me he was visibly shatteredSainterman wrote:Can we get over this by any chance? If the need arises he will be there...

Apparently. Max needs to start thinking of the team a bit more and less of himself. The stories in the media during the week (they almost always come from player's talk) did not do those who gave Sheahan the story any credit at all.Sainterman wrote:...Another thread on this...we gunna have one every week?

How do any of us know what Max is thinking....cos we were looking at him warming up? How about we think he is a professional who will be doing everything he can to help the group of players on this quest? I think it is a slight on his character to assume he is dealing with in the way the media and some on here say he is. He is a club champion and his time may yet come....how about a little Fortius Quo Fidelius??perfectionist wrote:Max needs to start thinking of the team a bit more and less of himself. lyon hinted there could be a spot for max - horse for course type comment - and with zac throwing himself around with a bit too much gay abandon, who knows - an injury or a suspension isn't out of the question - so good to know who we've got as backup.
but just got to support the 22 out there - zac looked a bit nervous and out of position a bit, but over the 4 quarters was part of a great team effort.

Sorry, did he have a coke and ice issue, and then looked up at the camera and gave it the bird? Or was he just warming up as an emergency?
FFS media blowing this all out of proportion, and by the sounds of it FIGJAM leading the charge.
Max would know as well as, if not better than, anyone that this is a team sport, and I have no doubt he will give his all for the team to win a flag.

I'll bet that if you looked at the team for the 97 GF you could mount a case for someone that was left out . Max is a pro, and it may be hard to take, but if anyone can do the team thang it's Max. Respect.

Max is disappointed and I'm disappointed in Max's obvious disappointment.
He's always worn his heart on his sleeve, but this is the time to support the team to the hilt.
Get over it Max and stop looking so down and out, at Sandy, at training and in the rooms before a final.

I have always suspected but never had any proof that Max along with a few other players (Clarkes etc) did not take warming up seriously enough.
My suspicion is they only went through the motions.
Consequently they were vulnerable to soft tissue injuries early in a game.
I wish I could say, I hope Max gets to play in a winning Grand Final Team but sadly I think that now, regardless of whether Max warms up properly or not, his probability of breaking down in a critical match is too high for him to be risked.

bit harsh on max imo.
the guy would be hurting and the camera being on him is unfortunate.
imo it isn't a sentimental thing, i honestly think he should be in our 22 for the prelim regardless of the opposition. his dedication, experience, and will to win would certainly be handy to have.
i can also live without him being there although its unfortunate for him, as i can see the reasons for him not being there.
time will tell

Robert Harvey- Simply the best
It wasn't like he was throwing chairs, or head butting the wall, he was just warming up....without smiling....hardly unusual?fonz_#15 wrote:bit harsh on max imo.
