Nick's time to become a legend.

Written by Mike Sheahan.

OF THE 88 players engaged in two finals at the MCG this weekend, one man stands alone in terms of importance.

While I have the utmost respect for our skipper, if we have 1 player who is vital this month, I believe it is his deputy.

Nick will perform, he is that good. But, when Lenny does his stuff our midfield is the best in the competition. Go back to Rd 14 and Lenny's last 1/4. In the biggest H&A game for years, his last 1/4 was the stuff of legend.

The quiet man is on a mission, and what a fella to ride shotgun to the AFL's most valuable footballer

Agree Lenny is our engine room.
Though I am hoping Bally will be fired up as well.

But it is true, that for us to win the cup Roo needs to maintain his current super form.
I've got no doubt he will.

Along with those two, I think if Ball can play to his best available then the Saints are a good chance of going all the way.

Another opportunity awaits!

If Bally does fire and Lenny does the usual you can't see the Pies winning too many clearances..........meanwhile, B.J....Monty...Grammy...Dal and the like will have a field day.

Pies not noted for contested ball either ....our midfield should dominate this game.

Couldn't imagine Plugger coming down to Moorabbin and teaching Nick to kick better, he's just not that sort of person.

plugger has not gone near moorabbin in many years, doubt he would come down and help out.

never mind the fact that he (i think) is in nsw

And who said Nick Riewoldt wasn't capable of performing when it really counted. The man is a champion, one of the greats our of our club, and no doubt one of the best of his generation. We get a week off and him and Lenny can anchor us into a GF. :D

Any doubts about his legendary status have been expunged.

I think Nick is well on his way to being our greatest ever player.
Not there yet - but well on the way.

You are spot on, I think he is not far off that now. Today would surely shut his critics up once and for all. And when we win the flag this year,he will be seen as equeal to the Doc

Rooey is a GOD!

I'm starting to get excited about watching him play in a similar manner to when the great Plugger was in full steam - he is THAT good!

No journo is willing to make the big call these days, they all write articles with exit plans so they can jump off if needs be.....except maybe James Hird?

Choosing to finish with the words....it remains to be seen, does not mean that you called it early.

How were the papers this morning? I sat down to have a read and was presented with a "curse" article, Laidley predicting us to lose, and yesterday a dig at Roo, along with Gerard Healys "out in straight sets" article!

Watch them all jump back on next week though...

Spineless journalism aplenty!

Sheahan this year

Carlton are the real deal

Geelong are the real deal

Adelaide are the real deal

Collingwood are the real deal.
