Gee- I really find it amazing, the amount of threads that turn into slang fests, I honestly thought this wouldn't be the case anymore, successful year and all that.

Funny its all the same people.

What's this week's scoop, Jim?

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

It's a crack up really, the most successful year in recent history and the most amount of animosity shown on here between Sainters...maybe it has something to do with the building tension..we are all a bit nervous and need someone to take it out on..
So there you are fellas, times up,get of the couch and pay my secretary on the way out. 8-)

Everything is going so well there is nothing to get disgruntled about, so things get invented to manufacture the tensions and disappointments we believe is an integral part of being a Saints follower. RF is a past master at playing the part of bemused innocent whilst expertly provoking. He is a consummate button pusher. Maybe there's a job for him somewhere (else). Although I must say I appreciate his skill.

Hehe...true! I ready that collection of poorly phrased dribble and heresay, thinking a 15 year old must have written it, only to find it was our bandwagon hopping mate Mike! I've heard more intelligent POV's after 20 pints at the front bar.

Max will get a crack at Fev if we need him.

I know they sometimes get things wrong but they have many contacts and a lot of them inside the club plus the main ones being the players managers. I would tend to think this article is very accurate.

It may well be true, but I dont like how they quote "sources"all the time with out some sort of substantaion (i am a shyte speller) He in particular makes general statements and attribute them to his sources, they tend not to come true and ppl forget about them, and the thing is he is never taken to task

I wonder if this would have come out if we were not playing eddiewood

And i forgot, I HATE SHEEHAN

My mate who barracks from Port could have made the same story up, based on observation...chuck in some (a little) improved grammar, a couple timelines and he's just written the same report. A guess, but given the subject is (a) 33 years old, (b) reputed widely to be playing his last season, (c) has only played a handful of games this year, (d) has been benched in favour of another player (injury/form = 50/50), a fairly likely chance.

Still can't believe Sheahan gets paid for this.

Your mate doesnt have contacts like Sheahan has. Why would he make it up? Do you think he would honestly be chief footy writer if there wasnt a basis to 95% of the stories. I have met Sheahan a few times and some of the things he knows and doesnt print would amaze you.

The point is my mate, your mate, my granny or the neighbours dog could write this article and be correct. It is not a 'scoop', nor is it amazing (obviously he reserves that for his own mates), it is as good as an educated guess...and it's poorly written.

The only 'exciting' thing about this article is that it perpetuates an impression that the cracks are appearing at St Kilda for non-Saints fans. Tabloid material for selling papers.

The article doesnt make any impression that cracks are appearing. It is an important article as one of best players in the last 10 years may not play in the finals but it isnt even a slightly bad article for the St Kilda football club. If anything it shows RL strength. And it will not be a guess. he would have been imformed about this and my guess would be by Max's manager.

Really feel for you Max, you have been a champion and deserve to be treated better than this.
Agree Bev, if the article is true. Winning isn't everything in life. It sounds like some on here are so desperate for a win that they'd sell their own mothers for a premiership. Some things aren't worth a premiership.
Read your own sig.

It's not about selling your mother for a win.
The sig is true, but what you want isn't always what you need. Sometimes it's better to not get what you want, if the cost of getting it is too high. I believe we can win all our finals with Max in the team and with that being the case I reckon he's more than earned his spot.
In this debate many/most are talking about how well Max disposes of the ball, etc, but what about the "intangible" things, like the spirit and experience he brings, plus the fact he has/would just about give everything he has to help us win a flag. He's the one you'd want beside you in battle. Those things can be worth so much more. To the team and the fans who can lift the team over the line. He wouldn't dump us the way he's been dumped, I don't believe.
He may have had a couple of games lately that were below his extremely high standards, but both were in games that "didn't mean anything" and one was against a white hot Michael O'Loughlin. In "bigger" games, he did fantastic jobs against Fev, Franklin and Brad Johnson. Something that someone who was "past it" wouldn't have done, would they?[/i]
