I really appreciated that my husband chise to line up for four hours for tickets because he didn't trust the phone and website systems to work, but I did think he was being over cautious. Maybe not.....

I have done the same in the past. I have joined a queue, then called them on my mobile and the queue always wins. Pathetic.

We got through on the website pretty quickly this morning. I wanted seats for both Sat & Sun PM games and it went without much of a hitch. We only got kicked out twice, which is pretty standard.

Other than my preferred location is Level N in the Southern Stand, but despite them saying seats were available, I couldn't get any.

Ended up lower level about 7 rows from the front on both days.

Unable to get a ticket all morning.

Now the allocation is exhausted.

Makes you wonder why you bother paying your subs.

Piss poor effort.

Had 7 tickets to AFL members by 9.05. Maybe you need broadband for it to work properly.

most people don't get that computer use and internet use are different things.

If you have got computer problems, you might only see this as Ticketek won't load issue, blame them and the internet, when in reality it is because you went to that porn site last night and now nothing works.

Ok update....

I'm wondering if it was due to firewall problems at my work? Would not let me past the choose your ticket/viewbasket page.....

so I gave up and went to the local Ticket outlet and got myself a ticket in Ponsford aisle 35 (had to be really!)

Cheers to another poster who PM'ed me with advice to go down in person.

Unable to get AFL ticket so had to splash out the extra $50 - oh well..... I got me ticket!!!! :D

Mum tried to get tickets in the AFL members at Ticketek and was told that the only seat avaliable were standing room only. Me, in Alice Springs, got on the ticketek site and was able to get two tickets in the Great Southern Stand, lower level, at a club member. Not happy that instead of $27.00, have paid $132.00, but she has tickets on Sunday. Not a great system, when AFL club supporters can't get tickets in Melbourne where the games are being played, but I can get them in the NT. Now just to make sure that I'm not in hospital when the tickets go on sale each week, or there will be trouble!!!!!

The website is a prick of a thing....

Sketchy reloading and if you dont like your seats you have to log right out of it to have another crack.

Only attempt to get tickets online if you have a decent connection and not hidden behind too many firewalls.

I've been testing the Ticketmaster site at work today just to make sure I can book a GF seat. Internetz at work is serious fail.

Anyhoo.

couldn't get on for first hour, then changed track and searched for AFL finals in search section top right hand side of page. = straight in!
Had to get 4 AFL members tickets, including for my 68 yo mother. Given row Z level 3, but if you are not happy you have to log out completely and run the gauntlet of not getting any tickets next time you try. You can't save your barcodes or refresh , you have to do the whole thing again. Total crap system.

Why is it that we have to register for the GF via ticketmaster and collect the tickets via ticketek

I had the same problems yesterday at work and ended up going to the local outlet to get the tickets.

Not sure if it is our firewall as last year I bought my tickets while at work with no problems. I will however be taking my laptop to work in the coming weeks just in case.

Needless to say, the online and phone system is crapola and every year there always seems to be the same problems. I can't understand why Ticketek/Ticketmaster or whoever the company who does the finals ticketing hasn't yet worked out how to solve these kind of issues. It isn't like this is a new thing that has caught them by surprise.

Anyways, rant over and my tickets are now proudly displayed on my mantle piece.

could be that the Club and AFL data bases are still mainly with Ticketmaster

re firewall- that may also explain hellorocky's difficulties= given she eventually used the security guards laptop.....

another message to post for ticket purchasing.

Ticketek much better than Ticketmaster.

I got 4 tickets by 9.02 this morning and had choice of the whole AFL Members area. Last year took 45 minutes and finished up with 2nd last row top deck of the Southern Stand.

2 less AFL members who got tickets! What another moronic decision from the AFL! No doubt they will say. "Oh, we had no idea there would be such demand!" They would be more accurate saying, "Oh, we had no idea!"
