Your Finals X Factor?

Post: # 807502Post SaintWodonga »

Who will step and truly make a name for themselves in this years finals?

My X factor is Gardi. He has not done a lot lately with injuries and in different form, but I reckon he will come in a stamp his name all over the 2009 campaign.

Gram -he seems to be able to find space on the MCG and has played well there in the past.

Goddard. He was born for this sort of stuff. I really hope he spends some good time up forward, too. He could do a D Jarman and kick 5 in a quarter.

I'm not so sure about Gardi. He obviously was the x-factor round 14, but i don't think he can deliver that over the course of an entire month.

I'm also going to have to go with Goddard. I reckon gonny will step up and be our luke hodge; a f***ing hard nut streaming off the backline pinpointing passes to our boys straight down the guts.

Then again, if Gram learns to kick short and straight after sprinting through the middle, rather than bombing it god-knows-where, we are virtually unstoppable.

Yep. They will become legends over the next month!! StKilda football club - Premiers in 2009.

IF Kosi has one of his purple patches of form we will be unstoppable.

Kosi is our most important player. If he is playing well he is unstoppable and it takes the heat of Roo. Plus Kosi is one of our few players who can launch a set shot from outside 50 with good accuracy.

Gotta be Kosi. You know what youll get with Roo, but if Kosi steps up to cause a lot of damage then we'll be near unstoppable.

True, so true. If we play as a team, like we did against Hawthorn and Adelaide (both times) especially, we'll win, unless something catastrophic happens. Our guys have been waiting for this month for a long time. We can s*** it in.

Milne and/or schneider for mine. Think they may cause teams some headaches as we know that Kosi and Roo are usually the ones they try to nullify.

Also, think Bally has something to prove and will cut up a few teams through the finals. He will take a couple of teams by surprise.

Kosi...

It would also be nice though, if the finals series had similarities to this years B&F and potential brownlow votes. Too many X factors, and far too hard to seperate the excellence 8-)

Agreed. I'm tipping the G-tram to kick a bag in a big final (hopefully the BIG one).

With our midfield so deep Grammy is one that slips under the radar & he has to have his best month of footy in his career.

Goddard or Kosi
Kosi can split a packlike few other can and hurt people in the process.
Goddard maywell be the most flexible option in any team in the finals.
ALA Jarman could go forward and kick 4 in a qtr and then go to the middle and get 30 the next week.

If all the big names play as they are expected to (and I agree Kosi is our X factor) I think our 'wild card' is McQualter. He gets under everyone's guard and pops up for a handy goal or two. His tackling pressure in the forward line is second to none. He's the sort of player who makes his name in a Grand Final side.

Not sure about x factor - but I reckon Milne, Schneider and Mcqualter. We need their fwd pressure. This is the key to our entire game plan. If that returns, then look out.

We had 68 inside 50's to about 38 on the weekend. The reason they were able to score so easily from relatively few inside 50's was b/c they were getting it out of our fwd line too easily, so the midfileders couldn't get back to give a chop out. We need to lock it in our fwd line. This is the key to our game plan and has been all year. These 3 blokes provide that fwd pressure b/c of their speed and tackling ability.

Maybe it isnt a particular player.... I think what got us here was two things, intensity and attitude. If these two things are at the same level as they were in the first 14 weeks we will win it, if they drop off even by 10% we are done.

Opp teams cant cover everyone ...They know Milne , Schnieder but who is McQualter.

He is unobtrusive then pops up for a cool goal !

Kosi

if Kosi gets going and starts taking marks we win, it's that simple

His ability to take 8 marks inside 50 and maybe kick 5 or 6, that is all we need

to be the difference b/w most sides
