What we did do last week Milan was keep the opposition goal less in atleast one quarter..
and I think the comeback in score was possibly the largest for the year- against crows it the Saints may have been down by 30 something and got back.

You did not mention the 115 ckles against the Hawks in Round 19

Great ladder to be leading but not strictly a game performance stat.saintbrat wrote:does this stat count?

I might throw in something about number of players used at the end of the season, but if I expand the scope too much it will just become a pain in the ar$e.
Waiting to see if Milney picks up this round's Army Award... also fighting a strange lack of enthusiasm for chronicling our first loss for the season...

Nice one... Milney got the Army Award for round 20 by a majority vote.
Even managed to find something positive to say about this round.
Hang in there, Sainters...

there's a couple of milestones for players coming up
Nick only needs 4 for 200 marks- still on track to havehis name in the top ten of recent years again- he has the most- 256 in 2004 and 240 in 2008
Sam Fisher 146 wont get near last years level 228, which is 3rd on list
Joey's near 561 disposals is nowhere near Harves record of 756 of 1997

seriously we had a VFL CHF, a third tall at FF and some odds and ends around them. Thats goes down as one of the worst forward lines. God we were bad weren't we!

Fantastic thread!! I've been thinking about all the records we've broken this season and didn't know where to look to start finding them! Thanks!!
Now we've got one more to add to that list! And it's a big one! GO SAINTS!!

Ahhh I love a win over the Pies.
I have a bit of a reputation now as a stats head, and when queried after the game I expressed some satisfaction in the return of the Saints' game style. I estimated the inside-50s at 50:35... was very pleased to see the actual figure was 49:34. Keep it up boys, this will win you a flag...

That's what Bruce said so it must be true.SaintWodonga wrote:One more record:

But he also said that Robert Eddy was playing in his 5th final. If he played in all 3 last year as well as Sunday's game he must have also played in the '06 Elimination final against Melbourne!

I pulled the data... it's not a particularly illustrious list. Although that can hardly be a surprise given this club's history.
Only 15 players have kicked 10 goals or more in finals:
The rest of the current playing list have 4 or less except for Kosi who is on 8. Would love (and hope) to see him join the double-digit ranks this year.

Wow. I didn't have a prediction for inside-50s on the weekend... just as well. What a doozy.InkerSaint wrote:Ahhh I love a win over the Pies.

But I did miss one significant milestone from the qualifier: Riewoldt passed Gehrig to become St. Kilda's no. 4 all-time goalkicker, behind Mohr, Loewe and Lockett.
A couple more entries, one for Brownlow night and one for the weekend match, should round it off to an even 40 edits.
How did they put it in the post-match interviews? Another two hours of footy, just with a different prize at the end of it.
Congratulations boys - you made it to the big stage.
