C'mon Luke, We Know You Can Do It! An he did!
An open letter to Luke Ball:
Dear Luke,
Chances are that you probably don't read this forum, but in the off chance that you do, we wanted to lend our support and to let you know that we're right behind you.
Much has been said about your ommision from the senior team. Supporters have discussed at length your kicking, pace and fitness. We have speculated as to the reasons why you've been dropped.
In the end, it's all merely that: speculation.
The only thing for certain is that you are indeed a true champion who has literarily spilt blood for this footy club.
You have given more to the cause than many of the current 22 put together. You are peerless when it comes to being courageous and have always rallied to the cause when asked to do so.
Some of us have not forgotten the many weeks when you'd end up in bandages from putting your body on the line, and harming yourself despite your better judgement. Not to mention playing when you should have been resting your OP.
These are qualities seldom found in individuals, and are critical to a successful team - make no mistake.
We also recall what a serious loss your injury was leading up to last year's finals.
Now you are faced with an extreme challenge, and I for one have no doubt that you will once again rise to the occasion. You are far too determined to do otherwise.
Another poster refers to you as the "missing piece of the jigsaw", and truer words were never written. Anyone who writes you off - does so at their own peril.
Bottom line is that if we are to win the flag in 2009, we need a champion like you firing in the trenches.
Whilst I do not speak for other supporters, I'm sure that many agree that at our best, we should expect to win the flag this year... and you deserve to be on the podium as much, if not more than most of the current squad.
So, for what it's worth Luke, we are all behind you and support you 100%.
Do what ever needs to be done, and never lose faith in your abilities. Move heavan and earth to get back into the seniors, because we need you come September.
There is nothing we want to see more, than to watch you doing a lap of honour after the big one.
It's time to rise and fulfill the destiny that you and your team mates have thrived for over the past 5 years.
Go Luke... Go Saints!

You can speak for me in this instance, Milton. Very eloquent and sums up how I feel about Lukey.Milton66 wrote:Whilst I do not speak for other supporters

+1 Lukey, many times I have used your commitment to the cause as an example for Sainter_Boy. We know that you are busting a gut to get back to wear that Premiership Medallion.
Will look for you in and under the packs on that last Saturday in September!

I don't think he'll let sentiment get in the way. But you obviously missed the point of the thread.bobmurray wrote:I hope Ross picks his finals teams on form, picking players that are performing in the manner HE requires,i hope he doesn't fall for sentiment.

We require Luke Ball and we do not require a Geary or EddyMilton66 wrote:I don't think he'll let sentiment get in the way. True. The post is about showing support for Ball. Not about if he does or does not deserve selection.reincarnated wrote:We require Luke Ball and we do not require a Geary or EddyMilton66 wrote:I don't think he'll let sentiment get in the way. Being a "tru Saint".....and the football that a player is delivering are seperate things.
Rix evidently was one of the best Clubmen the Saints have had in recent times...but that did not make him a first 22 player.
Ball however has the ability to be a first 22 player...but evidently needs to rectify some team oriented aspects of his game.
ALL players under Lyon have had to change how they play. This is not an insult to anyone...but is the reality to havea particular game plan that can only be successful when eberyone performs the team-role assigned.
Anyone including Luke Ball not able or willing to perform the role assigned misses out.
Personally I believe Luke will be back, and that Luke can bea vital part of what is required for us to taste GF success.
