What about his three finals last year? Our worst player by a street!

Are there any posters on here that believe Eddy has earned his spot?

Of course you are correct, but I would have thought Geary could play a smiliar role to Eddy and hurt going the other way as well.

But hey if Eddy becomes a premiership player, you won't hear a peep out of me...

In fairness, Eddy has snagged a couple, but Geary does look the more electric contributor.

To be honest, I prefer Armo to both.

Either way, I can only assume there's reasons...

I prefer Geary to Armo right now, there's something about Armo going missing that bothers me....I like him for the future though...

I suppose that is why RL coaches us and not yourself.

Eddy gives the intensity at the ball and the ball carrier that has been missing for the last couple of weeks.

He was great for Sandy last week and anyone who thinks not should have another look at that game.

Wow, get a grip, people...

Eddy plays his part and is reliable in doing so.

Armo has yet to string 3 good games in a row. That's not to say that he won't become an elite mid. But why risk it in the finals?

Eddy may well be a GOP, but you know what you'll get. Is he an RL favourite? Well, if he does what's required efort-wise, then yes, I guess he will be.

All this talk of "x" factor and upside is utter cr@p IMO. What if they play Armo in a final, and it turns out a shocker... can we risk that? I say NO.

Until he has gained consistancy, he should stay out of the seniors.

Ball's dedication is unquestionable. But can he bring the vital ingredients that our style dictates? So far, I'd say no, given he's been dropped.

Agree he was pretty good, thought Geary was better

That's it in a nutshell. You know exactly what Eddy is going to produce. There would be nothing worse for a coach than to go into a game not knowing whether a player is going to be in the best three players or the worst three.
I think the one thing we can be sure of with Ross is that he views effort higher than anything else, no matter how much talent or X factor you might have.

He is very good at contested ball and has a big tank, so can run to pick up a defensive position in our zone better than the likes of Armo, Ball etc. That's why he gets a game and who's to argue considering it is our defensive press that has been such a factor in our success so far this year. He may not be flashy or a high draft pick, but he does some very important things whenever he plays.
so well said.

Facts are Eddy can at least RUN and apply pressure.

Armos is knackered after 20 and Ball runs like hes 80.

Great tackles for sure - no good if you cant also apply the zone and chase FFS.

i thought geary would get a game this week, but on the stats there's not a huge amount of difference between the two of them this year. eddy more inside 50s, assists, goals; geary more disposals, marks, tackles.

given the way the forward line functioned last week, seems like the coaching staff want another predictable forward line cog, whereas geary hasn't been as effective in that role this year. forward line of riewoldt, koschitzke, milne, schneider, mcqualter, eddy sounds pretty good actually - hard working and multi-dimensional.

incidentally, the side picked here is the same side that played in round 16, when we thumped adelaide, before the august of our discontent.
