I think you'll find he was pulling your leg, Bev, and making then point that Goose loyalists appear to have no idea about much...Saint Bev wrote:Your kidding, Allen is on crutches and X only just started trainingjonesy wrote:If Goose has a hamstring, and isn't even training, then why to people continously drag his name up for selection?!!! Out Riewoldt (inj), Dawson, EDIT meant Armo!!! Sorry bakes...
In Hayes, Ball, Max
Gwilt retained as a forward in Riewoldt's absence ( I mean, really, why risk it?).
If Max not 100%, they'll ditch the risk there too and go with Geary and we'll play an extra mid instead of retaining Dawson or subbing a replacement tall.
Agree with Bev that Blake looked very sore at times. If he's out Dawson stays.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

this side should basically be the side we are going into the finals with. we don't want to be making too many changes come finals time.
in - hayes, ball and hudhton
out - armitage (unlucky), gwilt/raph and dawson
dempster will be important come finals time. great negator, who did a number on hodge when we played the hawks. its funny to hear that he has not done much. i'm more interested on the person he is negating than what he is doing. dempster can also play forward if gwilt goes out.

He'll be in, especially with Roo out.Sobraz wrote:Would be a big mistake to drop Gwilt imo...
Played a very servicable game on the weekend, and is crucial to our forward setup... He took a step up last week i thought... He is ready to break out...
He is probably the best, or equal to BJ, inside 50 deliverer in our team...

Geary should replace Armo, as he has a bigger motor. Ball might have picked up a lot of possessions last week against Port Melb, but didn't overly impress me and went pretty quiet when the game was there to win in the last quarter. Max would probably be rested. I think McEvoy should have a run on the MCG and King could be rested.

Something that I think is great and shows how hard work pays off, it that McQualter has not been mentioned as a possible out. For so long he was fringe and even demoted to rookie at one stage, I think it's great that he is now a regular. Its ironic (but no surprise) that he is in the side because of the hard work he brings to the team.

Did he?plugger66 wrote:Why will Max play. he hurt himself last week.

I thought that he was reading and willing to play the second half...but that the coaches and conditioning staff opted to just be extra cautious on the day and so did not allow him to go back on.

I can't see Gwilt being dropped. He is very important structure wise as he's the high half forward that allows Roo & Kosi to play deep forward.
I think Lenny replaces Armo.
I hope Bally comes in as well but for who, I don't know.
I rate Dempster but I also think Geary is making huge claims to be back in the side.
Zac has had a few rough weeks and I'm not sure Max is fit enough to come straight back in. I'd probably prefer a fully fit Max but having said that I'm one of the few that thinks Max & Zac can play in the same side.
As much as McEvoy has improved I'd be very surprised if Ross doesn't go with the experienced ruck combo.
If there is any doubt on Roo, then I'd wouldn't be surprised if Tom Lynch gets a very surprise run. I do recall Ross saying something about young players playing important roles in finals (I think he used Dermie's debut in a final as an example).

Exactly, there were a couple of kicks in the third quarter that were beauties, broke the line and kicked to position with 55m roosts.Ice Wolf wrote:I'd keep Gwilt in, hes kicks into 50 we just about perfect, not his fault that the other forwards didn't capitalise.
They were long accurate and well aimed, much better than Grams long and out of bounds.
As opposed to Gram's floating punts that go anywhere in a 40m arc.
I love the thought of Gwilt on the g, spotting up players.
I want Geary in as well, he has that great "x" factor of getting that goal from the 50.
Taking on board the resting of roo my changes are
In Geary Ball
Out Roo Armitage (think the big ground will find him out)
Max and Lenny , why risk them? If we play doggies week 1 then Max comes in for Brad Johnson. Not sure he gets a match up against the pies.

I put to you that over his career Stephen Milne has won more ruck contests than Geary has bombed 50 metre goals.terry smith rules wrote:

Agree re Gwilty though. Hope he stays in.
Max would ruin Anthony if we get Pies.

Not making it up. Was in the players rooms after last weeks game. He was very battered, could hardly walk and was in alot of stress, he needs a rest.plugger66 wrote:Why is Blake injured. Do people just make things up.Saint Bev wrote:Dempster needs all the game time he can get.

Call it the "x" factor that you need in a final

He played a blinder actually and it will be hard for the coach not to bring him back on that form.
Reincarnated swore he read that Geary was in our team and hence didn't obviously notice Geary at all during the game...as he wasnt there
