Wouldn't go there...if you were a coach and your players weren't playing to their best of their abilities im pretty sure you would be furious at them as well, especially professional footballers.rodgerfox wrote:And also maybe that he's out of ideas?saintdavies wrote:Exactly why i posted this as it is unusual for Lyon to do this, meaning the players are obviously not putting in 110%.ohwhenthesaints! wrote:I perceive him to be a measured kind of guy, an hour long scolding session strikes me as unusual...more unusual however is this apparent lack of privacy between the coaches and players.

If I was Lyon I'd be heading straight around to GT's place tonight after Footy Classified, and asking him to come back to the helm as a coaching advisor. I read a couple of times in the Age today that he also gave them a bake after the game yesterday. I'll see if i can dig up the quote.

Lose one game and it is the loss you needed to have; lose a second against a bottom-eight side and it threatens to be a habit. Which would in part explain the long, loud, withering spray coach Ross Lyon delivered to his players in the rooms after the game.
it has been around this time that "Kosi" will headbutt a fence, rip a hamstring or belt someone.

Depends which way you spin it.
Gee I hope you're right.
But a bit worrying that a formula that has worked all year, suddenly gets changed at R22.
Hopefully it's not a sign of desperation.

Maybe when we win against Melbourne he will slink off once again and pretend to be "overseas".

Ofcourse he is angry. We lost the game in the same areas as last week. Areas that Ross would have put time into fixing and the boys obviously didn't take it seriously enough. Wouldn't surprise me if he has asked players if they do want to play finals with the team or sit in the stands. Plenty of boys want their spots.

Gee a coach yelling at his team after an unacceptable performance. Only Rodger Fox could find reasons to be cynical about this. Lyon must be the only coach in the league that would have reacted that way:roll:
Would have thought it is expected that Lyon was furious - as already stated he had identified our contested possession work as an area of concern, and yet still we lost in it. I'd be angry too.

Both multiple and reliable sources report he gave them a loud and angry bake after the game, logic suggests to me he would be unlikely to repeat the dose the next day......
you'd get on with the job of acting on the problems already outlined
unless maybe he came up with some new material and it was off on another tack ...eg after the game : what they didn't do in terms of the team/play game plan , contested ball, tackles etc
then next day more on a psychological level getting back into their heads attitudes to re-focus on (or vice-versa)
But you would think it would have been all rolled into one Sunday and a second discussion on thoughts and attitudes wouldn't necessitate loud yelling!
my verdict : very doubtful!
