FOOTBALL'S famous busking duo is no more.
Saxophone player Dave Hedges and his trombone playing mate Anthony Simmonds say they have been pushed into breaking up after a stoush with the City of Melbourne and Etihad Stadium security.
The popular duo plays covers of footy songs to fans on the footbridge from Southern Cross Station to Etihad Stadium and at the bottom of the bridge from Birrarung Marr to the MCG before and after matches.

CALL IT ONLY '"THE DOME"
If everyone In the media free universe simply refers to the stadium as "THE DOME" and as second nature never refers to any cheap commercial names like 'e-had-it' or teltravis stadium or whatever it would reinforce the truth that the fans are the backbone of the competition and can't be lead to call our stadium what someone else dreams up.
I love the term THE DOME - I never refer to it as anything other.
What misery guts to prevent the fans hearing their own club songs from some groovy live musos. More Braindead behaviour. Now why cant the media get hysterical about this issue?
A couple of weeks ago i was inspired when i saw the young woman playing "Oh when the Saints..." on her bagpipes at T H E D O M E !!!
Not enough music- any busker who gets a regular gig deserves the odd coin thrown their way.
G O S A I N T S !

The boy can play and we can build a defence around him that will have respect.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

They chose to stand right in the middle of a the packed thorough fare.
They could easily have moved to one side.
The bagpipe girl is not causing any disruption - she actually does a service by standing on one of the dangerous seats.
When we gave out those clappers for the Saints a few weeks ago - we were not allowed to do hand them out on the footbridge. Cos it's been made to carry people, not for people to run a business. For intstance, if some drunk had tripped over the buskers stuff and broken his nose, who would pay? Did the buskers have public insurance?
We've got to try and see both sides of all arguments.

5 prelims in 7 years. 40 wins from 49 games.
2009 and 2010 were 2 of the 5 best years ever by the St.Kilda FC.
Thanks for all your efforts Saints.

If they are hazard standing in the middle of the footpath, then so are all podiums set up to sell AFL records and they should be banned.
People should not allowed to stand still on the footbridge, they become a hazard, this BS of the worst kind.
All these guys need are a really good lawyer, someone to give them some financial backing and they would absolutely ram it up the city council's backside in a court of law.

Good point. I can't argue with that.3rd generation saint wrote:If they are hazard standing in the middle of the footpath, then so are all podiums set up to sell AFL records
All tho, those guys are not just outside the train station.
I went to meet my mum there a few times... it's packed.
Fact is, the footbridge is far too small to handle the people traffic.

I really don't think there was a problem before the match, as the crowds entering the ground are static, but once the game is over is to me is what the argument is all about.aussierules0k wrote:Good point. The female playing the bagpipes plays on one of those stupid benches where as these buskers don't.
Also I am not too sure if this female still plays after the match
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!
Bagpipe girl was down much closer to the stadium pre-game..and no-where to be seen post-game. Perhaps the inclement weather was a factor?

You are dead right tho regardless of his party...some of his suggestions since hes been in office are clueless at best
He is an EX leader and perhaps since he's been the Mayor of Melbourne the reason why he didn't become premier are becoming obvious!
Was great to see one of the boys playing on Sunday arvo.
I'll look forward to giving them a few bob after the Granny also!
