Watched the game today, and he will always rack up the stats, b/c he does run incredibly hard. He also uses the ball well. However, when the going got tough in the 2nd quarter, he appeared to be going out of his way to avoid any real physical stuff.
Has always been a great runner, but when the genuine heat of a physical contest is at his hottest, you won't see Cousins around. Best receiver since Craig Bradley.
WE DON'T NEED HIM, regardless of what happens this year, or whether he's available. The zero tackle count against his name yesterday says it all. Our best outside runners (joey and Dal) are also great tacklers. Whilst some could have accused them in the past of being receivers, that certainly couldn't be levelled at either of them this year.

Richmond recruited him to play football, not to sell memberships - any club that recruits a player for a membership base is in real deep poop. Ben Cousins is actually a footballer not a marketing concept.3rd generation saint wrote:We don't need him, don't want him, absolute waste of a spot on our list.
Why would we want to recruit a 33 year old! Our salary cap can be better managed.
Believe it or not, even if we win the premiership we will have to rebuild our list and we do this by promoting our talented youngsters who didn't get much game time this year, with our senior and hopefully premiership experienced players next year and so on so that premiership number 3 isn't 40+ years away.
Richmond recruited him to sell memberships, as we have seen he wasn't the difference between them making the finals this year after just missing out last year.
Richmond are in the mess they are in because they have sought the quick solution in recruiting, instead of good selective recruiting as we have done.
Richmond are in a mess due to their poor recruiting of younger players - which is great for hindsight warriors like your clever self. Recruiting is judged on hindsight by all however its the easy way to bag another club of course. We also make mistakes
Richmond are not in a mess due to recruiting older players - they make up a smaller portion of their list so that theory is a dud as well
Reincarnated asks where is this good selective recruiting? None of our latest recruits are playing this week so obviously this 'good selective recruiting' hasn't gone too well. None of our selections last draft have played and we have had moderate success with the previous few drafts with a few players showing talent at being above average-ordinary players i.e. Geary, Eddy, Jones , Armitage
However we won't let one good game against the Hawks stand in the way of saying they are all super dooper right? They have all played a handful of games between them so to state good selective recruiting is a bit of a joke.
Holier than thou - a coked up Cousins is still worth much more than youIceman234 wrote:Gee, Cousins must have had a blinder...
9 kicks, 10 handballs, 3 marks, 0 tackles, 0 goals, 0 behinds. A whopping 56 DT points and a monstrous 51 SC points. Surely this Cousins you speak of is a must-have.
Wow, we need him and must take him immediately.
PMSL yet again at DH comments from reincarnated.
Kudos to the Saints for not taking that miserable little piece of monkey s***.
Reincarnated finds it amazing that you bring stats in despite noticing he was injured after half time...but sure...i guess if one doubles those stats theoretically take away a few it isnt a bad game.
If he went through all games this season and we flopped popular opinion supporters like your good self would have been whinging about not taking him. Deny it but its a tad obvious
The man is a natural leader of men on the football field, people move towards him, people listen to him. It is paramount that this football club develops great on-field leaders for the future and continues to churn them out and Reincarnated knows that Ben Cousins would be a worthwhile addition to us. There are not too many people in life that others follow and gravitate too, Reincarnated is one however that aside Cousins is one that this club could use and bleed for info about anything and everything to do with football
This is all about assisting our football club for the future
Like Joffaboy, you have no right to attempt to post in the manner Reincarnated does, so ceaseIceman234 wrote:reincarnated wrote:If he went through all games this season
Iceman234 thinks reincarnated is very funny.
Of course its a big if, most players do not get through a full season without problems either
