Bit of a joke all round.
"Lewis’ teammate Campbell Brown was cleared of any wrongdoing against St Kilda’s Stephen Milne. The match review panel determined that Brown did not drive his knee into Milne in the third quarter of Saturday's match."
Thanks starsign.
I've just been back to have a look at the replay and couldn't find it. Now I understand why - the foxtel replay (which is what I taped) 'jumps' 2 minutes and doesn't show the incident!

Gwilt had time to do something else. Standing , arm tucked in , waiting for the Hawk with his head over the ball to run into him , is not an excuse for gwilt.
Have to protect players whose heads are over the ball.
Take the reptrimand gwilty and learn a lesson. Watch how lenny or bally slide in and go for the ball in that situation .
Thanks starsign.

that's interesting!
why would they edit out that unless told to?

I've got no idea why?
There's plenty of other boring stuff they left in that could have been cut out?

not if you watch it as it happened initially , he runs in pretty committed, but the fox replay of it seconds later may give you that impression and thats when Walls and Lane offer that he just stood there and the bloke ran into him
because the clip its taken from or rather commences with a shot of Jimmy appearing to be just standing there , but at the risk of repeating myself the actual incident played in its entirety gives a different impression
i'm all for protecting the guy with his head over the ball too ,
and have changed my opinion after going back and watching it rather than just replaying the replay as it were

Gwilt charged but then stopped and propped, but was always going to collect his opponent who had no chance to evade him. Such is footy - nothing wrong with it to me.
Brown dropped in to say 'here i am, earn your mark' - could've dropped much harder with intent to harm - but he didn't - nothing wrong with it to me.
hope the club challenges on gwilt - if you bend over for the sake of convenience you'll end up taking a few in the rrrrrr!
"The starting point of all achievement is desire. "
The channel 10 live coverage has it.
I recorded on my IQ.
The ball is bounced Gwilt comes running in off the line.
He sees impact coming, plants his feet side on and sticks his hip out to brace for impact.
They show it live and Tim Lane calls " Oo that's a high tackle"
They then replay it from the other angle.
And then Tim Lane says "He stood pretty much stock still, he didn't...."
Robert Walls says " I agree with you Tim, I agree with you Tim, I think Ok to put in the report but I don't think much will come of it.
But then the Match Review Panel is lead by the scums Andrew McKay.
I don't expect integrity from one who has yet to explain how he lasted until No 13 in the 1993 national draft but there was no draft tampering by him or the Scum. He should have gone top 3.
I hope the club has the balls to stand up to this one.
Otherwise McKay and his gang will know they can get away with any injustice because our players will plead guilty to any trumped up charge just to get the 25% reduction.
Waiting for your response P66 but alternately you can save the yourself the time by flushing.

Charges Laid:
James Gwilt, St Kilda, has been charged with a Level One bumping or making forceful contact from front-on offence against Jordan Lewis, Hawthorn, during the third quarter of the Round 19 match between St Kilda and Hawthorn, played at Aurora Stadium on Saturday August 8, 2009.
In summary, he can accept a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record with an early plea.
The incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record

They must have a great garden around AFL house, the amount of fertiliser coming out of that place must be staggering.
As someone said before, the bump is dead, even if you standstill and someone runs into you, your guilty.
Yet, if you drop your knees into someone's buttocks, after a mark with intent, no that's fine.
If you are the mother of a young boy, I know which incident you would be more concerned with.
Campbell's incident was with intent, not accidental and it doesn't matter how forceful it was, it at least deserves a charge to be laid.
True Blue Sainter wrote:Gwilt call is a joke. Nothing he could do, we should challenge it. Pride is on the line, we need to make some sort of stand against the tribunal for such crap decisions.
What's more puzzling is Brown being thrown out? The intent was clearly there with his bent knees to drive forward into Milney's kidney/ass region, and yet, no suspension. Brown is a dirty, sniping thug, and I cannot believe that he didn't cop 2 weeks for such a dog act.
Brown on Milne
Q3 12:46 left
I think accidental.
He had to stop.
He could either step on Milne or don't take the step and fall on him with the knees.
But definitely reportable if the teams had been reversed.

Having seen it again on the Ch 10 news, my recollection of the incident was confirmed.
Gwilt was stopped (not in motion) whne the contact occured and the contact was caused by Lewis' momentum taking him into Gwilt.
I think the MRP have actually charged him to the letter of the rule, as I don't believe that anywhere in the rule does it state that the player doing the bumping has to be 'in motion'. I'm not sure Gwilt could argue anything other than Lewis caused the contact?
He's been charged with delivering a 'front on bump' to the head. Maybe he could argue that Lewis 'headbutted' his hip/side?
This may well be just another case of Monkey'boy's rules being inept?

we had Ossie one year in syd sliding for the ball the sydney player slid into his bum ossie got a week for that , i still can not figer out why ossie was after the ball and got the ball the syd guy ran into him ??
Grimfang wrote:Did anyone else see Bateman's snipe on Jones in the third Q? Bateman got the free when one of our players remonstrated.
Would have thought that would have been looked at by the MRP.
Yeah I think Bateman gave CJ one of those Simon Taylor elbows & Eddy stupidly reacted by shoving Bateman in the back right in front of the umpire, giving away a free. It's great to support a team mate but doing something that obvious in front of the umpire could be very costly in a big game.
I don't really have a problem with Gwilt getting a reprimand, they've rubbed people out for multiple weeks for similar incidents.
I DO have a BIG problem with Brown dropping his knees into someone. I'm flabbergasted that he was cleared (especially since they usually throw the book at Brown).

exactly. the question to be asked is what does it do to james gwilt's chances of selection next week if he doesn't stand his ground in those circumstances.
i think someone said during the week that one of our players would get stitched up again before the seasons end....how right they were......and brown"s actions were deliberate as well as pathetic....mongrel if ever there was one.....
