NO
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Looking at the afl predictor, and the games remaining - I actually have the Saints playing the Scumbags (Carlton) the first week of the finals - I also have Port on a massive decline, and lo and behold the Hawks and Essendon battling it out for 8th spot on the last week!
If everyone speeds, why haven't you been overtaken?
Heard this all before.
The Cats would account for the Saints as we were overrated. Saints win.
Adelaide are the dark horse - won 7 in a row and will dismantle the Saints system - Saints smash Adelaide
The Bulldogs will be too quick and will run and carry through the Saints zone - Saints obliterate the Dogs easily
Hawks will smash the Saints - Saints have best 7 players out, travelling second week in a row - Hawks everything to play for - Saints dismantle the Dorks and completely strangle them.
Now we have Collingwood being spoken up.
When will you people realise that this Saints team is DIFFERENT. Not just to any Saints team, but to any team in the comp.
We are playing a different game to the rest of the competition.
I would be very suprised if Collingwood could beat us - however, two things in Collingwoods favour
1) They play a very tight man on man game
2) Last time we played them, they had half their team out.
Still, I am a believer and think that nobody can match us ATM.

That's the key point in our favour...as I mentioned on another thread some time ago, I'll bake a cake the day a Pies player puts their head over the ball. As good as they look on their own terms, they are a team of outside receivers...Thomas, Didak, Swan, Pendlebury, Davis...there's precious few moments in a Collingwood game where you see them go into a pack and get it. 80+ tackles against them and they will fold.aussiejones wrote:Game Style against Collingwood
At the weekend the Saints had 115 tackles , Collingwood had 42
We are obviously playing a very different style of game .
Providing we can pressure the Collingwood team they are in deep trouble.

They've come from near and far.
They all set themselves up to beat us.
They tried everything.
Some came close.
Top 8 teams were put to the sword.
First the Doggies, then the Crows.
They were tipped to break us...
Yet they all failed.
PS. Only a fool would write off Geelong.

It's a laugh on the Collingwood fan forum. They are grasping at straws how to beat us
Pressure, Man on man, beat us physically. Hoping that our inexperience at the MCG will cost us.
They gotta get there first.

Couldn't agree more.
They aren't soft. They're just selfish egoists. Their football is dishonest.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Remember Jones took Davis right out of the match last time, barely had a sniff. I reckon he'd be the man again, Davis will be in a cold sweat in anticipation, I'm sure.Thinline wrote:To Stevie Baker!Saint Corin wrote:Leon Davis says hello.Animal Enclosure wrote: Jones to Didak, Dempster to Swan, game over.

Im pretty confident Davis didn't play last time we played the pies. I could be mistaken though.degruch wrote:Remember Jones took Davis right out of the match last time, barely had a sniff. I wouldn't back in Bakes against Davis, Davis now runs around in the midfield, something baker no longer has the engine to do. Baker would maybe go to Brad Dick if we played them, CJ and Dempter taking Leon/Swan, and someone else on Didak.

Wow, how many finals series have you watched. Anyone can beat anyone if things go in their favour. Injuries, form, psyche can change quickly and it only has to happem ONCE in a finals series after Round 1.Cairnsman wrote:Does it matter who we play in the GF.
As the sayings go..if you are any good..or to be the best.
I'm not being cocky or anything but really who is going to beat us.
I will keep crossing fingers.
They did have most of their good players out that nightSt. Luke wrote:The Pies are crap! Biggest bunch of pretenders ever! It's only their supporters beating up the hype! They were supposedly going to end our run when we played them last time

Exactly what I was thinking. People seem to be desperate to find a challenger for us. It seems to be Collingwood's turn. We haven't faced Collingwood in a while and they were missing some players then. Now they are on a bit of a roll. Forgive me if I remain unconvinced. Anything can happen in a game, but I can't see their team solving our defence. Cloke and Anthony in the key forward slots doesn't exactly scream out 'premiership' to me.joffaboy wrote:Heard this all before.
Personally, I still think the Cats are still the most dangerous if they can get fit and firing for finals. Any team with their midfield and their back six is a worry if they can get healthy. That's a pretty big if. The talent dropoff after the Cats is huge. I think the Pies, Dogs, Crows and Lions could beat us, but it would take a bizzare alignment of the planets. The gap between our best and our worst is so slim. Our opponents have this funny habit of playing badly against us. Those two things combined should make it difficult for any team to beat us - even the [insert this weeks challenger].
Yeah nah pleasing positive

Collingwood?......pfftt.
Look what the hawks did to them just a few weeks ago. Apply heavy pressure on this team, and they will break. Too many down hill skiers...
We would smash them, honsetly. I would be very comfortable if they made the gf, along with us, of course.... The cats are still the team to beat, imo, assuming they get most of their stars up and playing come finals....

Although I would never say any team isn't a threat of sorts, take a look at their draw (Drawn out of an invisible hat by the AFL)
Their draw would have to be the easiest of any team, surely.
3 trips interstate and 14 on their home turf.
Melbourne and Carlton twice and couldn't even beat Carlton on one of those occasions.
Sure they are fielding a better team of late, so they will probably keep third spot because the Doggies are falling away.
As it has been mentioned on this thread previously, there is plenty of grass between us and them - in team balance, depth, speed, defense, scoring options ... you name it.
ADELAIDE - Loss - MCG
MELBOURNE - Win - MCG
GEELONG CATS - Loss - MCG
BRISBANE LIONS - Win - Gabba
ESSENDON - Loss - MCG
NORTH MELBOURNE - Win - Dome
ST KILDA - Loss - Dome
CARLTON - Loss - MCG
WEST COAST EAGLES - Win - Subi
PORT ADELAIDE - Win - MCG
MELBOURNE - Win - MCG
SYDNEY SWANS - Win - ANZ
FREMANTLE - Win - MCG
ESSENDON - Win - MCG
WESTERN BULLDOGS - Win - MCG
HAWTHORN - Loss - MCG
CARLTON - Win - MCG
BRISBANE LIONS - Win - MCG
ADELAIDE - Win - AAMI
RICHMOND
SYDNEY SWANS
WESTERN BULLDOGS
Perhaps they could bring out a video of their streak.

http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/rfnews ... 09764.htmlSpeaking of St Kilda, this whole "shades of '66" thing is coming along beautifully. But surely we can get by without the grand final against Collingwood bit.
