Looks like Brisbane or Bulldogs
Doing some finals calculations .... looks like we'll either play Bulldogs or Brisbane in first week of finals. They both play one another this weekend and I'd say whoever wins will probably be the team we'll play. Any thoughts? Confident over Dogs but Brisbane can be a bogey to us. Still surprised they could make No 4.

I did a project calculator a few weeks ago a had the dogs out of the top four and Brisbane in it. The draw last night compounded the weirdness but there's no doubt the dogs have a tough run home.
I'd be happy facing the dogs, crows or lions in week one.
The pies are interesting. We beat them by 90+ points so in theory it shouldn't be a problem but I'd still opt for any of the others.
Pies v Geelong in the first round could be interesting...

I too think this would be quite interesting, although when we beat the pies, they were missing a few players.suss wrote:

Davis, Didak, Cloke?, Medhurst, Maxwell? ... they had a massive list of outs that night.Saint Corin wrote:I too think this would be quite interesting, although when we beat the pies, they were missing a few players.suss wrote:

Not looking likely now but I'd love to play the pies first up. I think they are the best chance of the other contenders to beat Geelong. I'd like to see us give Collingwood a hiding then see them again in the big one. And since we have already beaten them in one granny by a point, let's beat them by a hundred!! Reminds me of the appropriate joke.... What's the only thing better than beating Collingwood by 100 pts? ... Beating them by 1!!
Although I don't think my heart could handle a 1pt grand final!

Whilst I respect all our potential opposition, I think if we make the GF we will beat whoever it is we play. Our style plus the last game of the year equals potentially 120 plus tackles and that equals pretty goddam hard to beat.
Can't see the Dogs beating Brissie at home with Bradshaw and Brown in nor can I see the Dogs getting over both Geelong and Collingwood in consecutive weeks. Dog's stars aren't up and about and Brisbane are a pretty hard, tough side. That should open the door for Brisbane to snaffle fourth and probably - amazingly - put Dogs to bed for another late season fadeout.
Geelong shouldn't be underestimated but they are limping to September, no doubt about it. Playing them again with the same rucks and a back six led by Harley and an underdone if in at all Milburn and Scarlett makes my mouth water.
Collingwood's style isn't dissimilar to ours but a) we do it exponentially better and b) we have Roo and Kosi in combo and c) our entire 22 plays accountable football (although skilled Medhurst Daisy Didak Davis Cloke Shaw are all selfish in their own way) and d) we have a much more creative and skilful midfield. We starve Pies. Our last couple of games against them are cases in point.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
