I have a $20 bet every week on the saints to win
Guess i cant tell you about any losses this year.
After the footy season i dont punt at all.
Gambling is only an addiction if you let it be, just like drinking.
Having a controlled punt here and there is more of a fun/relax thing just like having a beer or 2 and calling it quits.
Being holier than though about other peoples lifestyles is a disgrace in my opinion but thats just my opinion.

Wrong actually, gambling is an addiction just like smoking, drinking and drugs CAN be.claystreet wrote:Gambling is only an addiction if you let it be, just like drinking.

I am like you, I like a punt every now and again, pretty much only on footy and I bet only what I can afford to lose.
However there are people out there who have no control and it's not right for us to judge them, because it is essentially a disease.

Betting is an addiction for who. Not 95% of people. drinking is an addiction but again for only about 3% of people. Do we ban these things because of 3% of the population. I dont think so. To many do gooders in this state. No wonder it is known as the nanny state.aussierules0k wrote:Well now you do.mullet wrote:[Didnt realize gambling controlled every aspect of our game.
I make personal bets with myself. I simply say to myself... "I'll bet Milne kicks the first goal", if he does I feel rewarded, if he doesn't it costs me nothing.
Very often winning a bet is all about bragging rights and hopefully earning the respect of ya mates and some self esteem. That's a shame right there.
Of the gamblers I've known they always tell me when they win, but are silent when they lose.... which is most of the time.
Personally, I wouldn't give any bookie 1 cent of mine - I'd rather give it to charity... but that's just my humble opinion.
Betting is an addiction which is constantly rammed down our throats thru the media and now on the scoreboard. It's a disgrace... but that's just my humble opinion.

Sportsbet (Darwin)
Hawthorn $1.80 (cf $3.50 Wednesday am)
St Kilda $2.05
Saints 0 losses
Hawks 10 losses
Even with injuries, doesn't add up does it? Especially when you realise that if you put $100 on the Hawks last Tuesday, you could now put $150 on the Saints and get a nice little collect no matter who wins.

Oh bother! These old facilities at Moorabbin leak when it rains.Munga wrote:What's worse is that these massive bets are obviously coming from people in or around the club because who else would know, and they're betting AGAINST US!!! I'm feeling rather dirty at the moment.
If only the AFL and Kingston Council had been more generous these leaks would have stopped.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.
