He should have turned around and head butted him - an official AFL sanctioned technique!

The MRP is corrupt. Two Saints players have been rubbed out for side bumps and yet head butts, elbows to the head and full on punches have been let go.

The tactics used by Crouch were a shocking display of poor sportsmanship at best and many times illegal because he was elbowing Milne in the back - I'll repeat those last three words - IN THE BACK! Any of the umpires could have free kicked him and the tactics would have ceased.

I hate it when players try to put our players off their game. Very naughty tactic.

if the tactics are illegal?

strange, before the game started on friday night an umpire was telling thompson not to elbow or get high when niggling with fev. This is exactly the same. Fair game to crouch because he got away with it but it's still illegal isn't it?

anyway milne is safe, one week at the worst because it's a strike not rough contact

Agree.

Let's cut the histronics - if Milne's elbow hit the jaw then it's high contact.

The issue is: Was the force enough to constitute a reportable offence?

If the answer is yes, then it's likely to be low impact, high contact, negligent
and around 120 basis points - take off 25% and you are down to about 90ish points and a reprimand - provided Milne has no loading and carryover points.

He has inside channel to AFL HQ and as we all know AFL HQ is corrupt.
AFL HQ have already determined that they can get away with 1 week reduced to 75 points.
The match review panel will told what they are to find tomorrow.

High contact using the elbow.
For a player of Milne's height, high contact with the elbow would make contact in the groin - a very serious offence.
Unless he was standing on a step ladder in which case he might make contact with the face.

Even when he is the same height as the guy he hit.

The Milne/Crouch incident happended directly in front of me and I lay total blame with the umpire. Crouch was scragging and holding on and Milne protested to the umpire, who did nothing. Milne started to walk away, was scragged again and brought his arm back to get rid of the obnoxious pest. Unfortunately (or fortunately!), Milne copped him in the mouth. He appeared to be reported, but probably will have to wait until later in the day to confirm. I will be outraged if he is, because I consider the umpire did not do due diligence to his job because he originally was unable to control Couch!

Did Milne actually get him in the mouth?

IMO Milne attempted to remove Crouch's arms away by swiping at them but Crouch, knowing the umpire was within close vicinity, flung his head back to make it look like he was hit in the face.

I reckon Crouch took a dive. I don't think there was any head-high contact at all.

EXACTLY! Bake's has been penalised continually over the years for the way he 'wears' his opponent, whether it be free kicks or MRP sanctions. IF the MRP wishes to be consistent, they will throw this report out and give Crouch the same treatment that Bakes has received over the last 5+ years. 8 weeks for Crouch, Milne cleared.
