For those who are worried about not playing at the G

Post: # 784811Post Moods »

I was curious and checked the 2007 fixture. Geelong played at the G only twice that year. Once at the start of the year, and a second time in the middle of the year. And we all know what they went on and did.

Thinking back I recall the scribes using this as a reson why the cats might striggle that year in the finals.

I reckon the impact of not playing at the G will be minimal at best. If we don't win the flag, I'd hate to hear ppl whining about the fixture as an excuse - it would sound pathetic. Rossy Lyon has already said that he's very confident our structures hold up on big grounds. And who wouldn't believe Ross. He hasn't led us wrong yet

It's such a ridiculous thing for others to say that our players won't be used to windy and possibly wet conditions because we play at the Dome. I'm pretty sure Moorabin is outdoors!!! And apparently it's dimensions are exactly the same as the MCG. So we'll be fine.

It seems to me that it's more Geelong supporters bringing up that we haven't played at the G. Doesn't concern me anymore than playing at SCG this week or Aurora next. I have complete faith in the game plan & the players being able to execute it, anytime, anywhere.

And moronic Collingwood supporters who are just dying to play them on a wet G in front of 95,000 fans.

If they think that;'s a daunting prospect for this team, they clearly haven't been watching us play at all this year. (I know they didn't watch our game because I passed about half of them leaving the staidum at half timeas I made my way to the ground)

Quartermain is the instigator of this theory, bitter twisted Hawthorn suporter who has seen so many flags in the last 40 years he actually thinks it is his right to see more.

At the moment we are the best performed team going around, if we dont win the flag then we wont be any more. Thats all there is to it.

Wish the media would stop looking for reasons why we might win and actually look for ways that teams could beat us. That would be journalism.

Maybe this year?

would love to SMASH the dees just to prove the gameplan stays EXACTLY the same on the G. Of course then people would say, well it was only the dees.

But we'll know whats coming... :D

Not sure if I read it right, but I belive there was a media report that the Club had asked for an extra training session or two at the G.

Seems the least the AFL could do seeing as they have admitted they buggered up the draw only giving us one game there...in Round 22

Pretty sure the AFL has nothing to do with organising extra training sessions at the G. Up to the G management.
