Always going to be a rumour like this one as soon as he was dropped. How about this for a rumour...he will go back to the 2's, work on the things he has been asked to, come back and play a big part in the September action.
He has many good mates that he has been with at the Saints for many years, is a former club captain, and still a big part of the future.
Talk of what trade we can do is disrespectful.
He will be back and better than ever!

I dont think he will go anywhere and BT was having a bit of fun. Who cares but lets be honest we will probably lose a player or 2 and footy is serious business know so if a player wants out you must look at what you lose and what you receive. If Bally left at the moment we are losing a seconds player on maybe 600k a year.

A clown like Taylor spews forth nonsense, and on the basis of that rubbish, you belittle a Saints champion. Charming, I don't think.

On recent form, he's not as good as any of the above, which is why he wasn't on the park tonight. It is a kick in the guts, it's supposed to be.saintly_safes wrote:If I was Luke Ball I would be pissed off that raph ,eddy ,gwilt even mcqualter got a gig before before him when he is way better no matter what the assignment but imo i think its a big kick in the guts
Sounds like a bulls*** rumour though...I guess being dropped was one of the reasons NDS was traded to Essendon and Milney was delisted at the end of last season.

I expect there will be more of this sort of talk.
HOWEVER -
If I know anything about people, if I've even got one bloody iota of a clue about anything - LUKE BALL WILL NOT LEAVE ST KILDA.
Rumour is, he has been one of the best paid players in the competition, well over half a million.
He is no longer an elite player at St Kilda simply a run of the mill average player.
GIVEN
The salary cap is $7,693,750 for 2009, $7,950,000 for 2010 and $8,212,500 for 2011.
Additional services is $537,00 for 2009, $555,000 for 2010 and $573,000 for 2011.
And minimum player base payment is $62,700 for 2009, $64,700 for 2010, and $66,900 in 2011.
Match payments of 22 players x 22 matches x $2,700 for 2009, $2,800 for 2010 and $2,900 for 2011 = $1,306,800, $1,355,200 and $1,403,600 respectively.
AND Hayes and Baker will be veterans next year.
That means around $6,600,000 base payments and additional services has to be cut between the top 31 players. (Divide by 30 as veterans only count half).
Star players like Riewoldt get considerably more than average.
Ball's base payment should now be under $200,000 around $150,000.
With match payments bringing that to $200,000.
That is having his salary cut by a factor of 3 or if some reports are correct almost 4.
Player Ball and his management can be expected to be very unhappy with the realiity.
BUT it is reality.
How much of the cake would you let him eat?

now that hutchy has said categorically that he will sign a new contract with st kilda, i'm worried
Ball is an elite player !!!!! He is a good player when fit and in form , not elite , Nick is elite .

There is no doubt Ball was an elite player but he has been carrying a permanent groin injury for years now.Dan Warna wrote:ball is an elite player. He's out of form and possibly carrying an injury, but he is an elite player.
He is no longer elite.
Riewoldt, Hayes, Dal Santo, Goddard, Montagna, S. Fisher, Gilbert are the elite players and it is they who should be getting base payments over an above the average.
My assessment of elite means chance of All Australian selection.
You will note that at $150,000 for an average player, I left $2,100,000 extra to be divided up among the elite players.

so is he worth 600 grand???
i mean how much money is enough????
imagine if players actually agreed amongst themselves to be be paid reasonable wages and not ludicrous ones.
hey ace, great post on the caps
if a team didnt use all the salary cap can the cash be used on something else?
or is it specifically ONLY to be used to pay players?
