"THE LID"
Has anyone taken it off? I'm trying to pry it open but it seems some corrosion due to premature condensation over the last 5 years has rusted it and made it hard to open.
Ross and myself were a bit nervous about tonights stoush but after the demolition of a touted in form side who has won their last 7 I am allowing myself to now call the Saints...."the Real Deal".....that's right.."THE REAL DEAL"..this is a major shift in confidence and belief for me, who swore he would not allow his beloved Saints break his heart any more by remaining ambivalent.
I will now get back to trying to pry this damn lid off.

You call yourself a fireman and you haven't heard of CRC or WD40? Give yourself an uppercut !!The Fireman wrote:Has anyone taken it off? I'm trying to pry it open but it seems some corrosion due to premature condensation over the last 5 years has rusted it and made it hard to open.

Perhaps it's a bit tough but I wouldn't even attempt to lift the lid until they beat the Bulldogs and then, the big one, the Hawks!
The Crows hadn't beaten anyone much in their run of 7 (Blues, Bombers the highest placed with plenty of AAMI games to boot) though winning form is of course good form and today the Saints were awesome. But, the Doggies are a big finals threat and the reigning premiers appear to be hitting back. Win in Tassie and the lid's off!

Graceful, elusive, strong overhead and no Easybeat!

Let's just keep it slightly ajar at the moment.
The "home and away" looks pretty secure (!!) but we cannot become complacent. We are not in the GF until we win a prelim & we still have to make the prelim. Nothing else matters if we don't get to the GF and then win tha game - this means that we have at least 3 chances to stuff it up and walk away with nothing.
Enjoy the moment but don't get ahead of ourselves!

I'm with you there Plugger. ONe week at a time and all that. Was talking with a friend this arvo who was coming over all Saintcitable and I mentioned that whilst 16 - 0 is a great effiort, it means snap if we don't walk away with a flag at the end of it.plugger66 wrote:Its off when we win the GF. till then just enjoy each game.

We know all that, everyone is enjoying the wins, that's a no brainer...the thing is..when and at what point in time do we, as Saint's fans say ..."Yes we can do it"(the lid coming off)st.byron wrote:I'm with you there Plugger. it isn't a lid as much as it is the belief we can do it. honestly, I came into the season not expecting anything at all, I thought we might scrape into the finals. after the first few games, seeing the pressure and intensity, it was hard not to gain belief, through the boys... the biggest turnings points for me where games when we came from behind to win, eg the north game... only 3 years ago, I'm sure being 25 points down at 1/4 time we would hang our heads and not compete as hard, but there is a belief in the team now that if you can keep on working at it, it will happen, just do your job.
.... I believe the lid is off

No doubt that we can do it. If that's the criteria for working out whether the lid's off, it came off for me when we beat Geelong. Yes we can.The Fireman wrote:We know all that, everyone is enjoying the wins, that's a no brainer...the thing is..when and at what point in time do we, as Saint's fans say ..."Yes we can do it"(the lid coming off)st.byron wrote:I'm with you there Plugger. Will we? Who the F*** knows? We can only play one game at a time. So far so good.

The lid must remain firmly on - with one exception. Every night, after a win such as today's, you can creep out to the back shed, ensure that all doors are locked and that the windows are covered. At exactly one minute to midnight, you can gently prise the lid open but only a fraction. You are then permitted a momentary glimpse but you must never tell anyone what you have seen. Then, the lid must be returned to its firmly shut position, until that time which dares not speak its name.
