House Of Cards
Unbelievable how many I have seen in the media this week how many are tipping Adelaide to end our winning streak.
To those crackheads I say this:
We are not a House Of Cards, we are not gonna fall apart. The best defense in the competition by a mile isn't suddenly gonna have the floodgates open.
By your logic Melbourne were due to beat Geelong today since they had not done it in a while.
Get real, and get a life.
Saints Forever.
No dice punks

A true king doesn't glass his girlfriend.
A true king doesn't smear his blood on an opponent when he cannot break a tag.
A true king does not label umpires disgraceful.
A true king is Robert Harvey.

I agree but I actually like being continually doubted. I reckon regrdless of what they say, players like Rooey and Hayes would read the newspapers and see this sort of stuff and it probably adds a bit of motivation.
Even though I am taking it from the midpoint of last season, which is when the Saints started to click, The Saints have won 24 of 28. Geelong over the same period have won 25 from 28.
We are a different team but most people still look at what happened to the Saints 100 years ago and the 27 wooden spoons and think that this is the same team.

EVERYONE is still expecting us to implode before this seasons out.
Imok with that. Im also ok if they wanna keep talking up Cats, pies, Dogs etc etc....let them continue and we just focus on what we have to do.

I'm OK with it too, and would certainly rather it than the converse.Teflon wrote:spot on.Splayd wrote:I agree but I actually like being continually doubted.

but it's definitely a little weird and the cause hard to put your finger on exactly .
It's as if 16 straight really doesn't earn you all that so called "respect" that all sides keep referring to and seek from time to time
So can it be anything other than our history and how we as a club are generally perceived, rather than it being directed at this particular group of players specifically?? ....maybe!
Maybe RLs attitude all along the journey has helped and our insistence that we are keeping a lid on it, still remaining "a work in progress" striving to keep learning and improve each game??
Just maybe by continuing this hard line we have contributed somewhat toward it ourselves as a club??
In the final analysis though it can only help the group remain focused on their major goal... so yep...it's all good!!
theres a few playing groups that 'respect' us
ie ...those that know their gunna get touched up
the rest of em can get inline behind luck , the afl , the umpires and the supporters favourites , culture and curse
if a st kilda supporter actually looked into his / her / our psyche....well bugger me ....whadda u see
well , actually , whadda u know
we are going to win it ...thats what u know
go on , have a bloody look
we are gunna win
its ours
(3 grannies in a row .... and we'll be unlucky to only win 2)...inside tip
win .....thats all we gotta do
then they'll respect us
we're good enough , we deserve it , we've earnt it , and coz the seagulls of respect, luck and karma sit on our window sill
u just gotta know

Well i havent got the Age but in the Sun it was about 33% who picked Adelaide so I dont think I would call that a lot of people picking them.SainterX wrote:Unbelievable how many I have seen in the media this week how many are tipping Adelaide to end our winning streak.

In The Age it was St.Kilda 16, Adelaide 4, although most tipped the margin to be fewer than 10 points. So the experts seem to be on board, although not with the same degree of confidence. IMHO one of the reasons we seem to be the focus of attention when it comes to ending the streak is that it will be "news" and the so-called experts will be clamoring over themselves to claim they were the first to predict it.
Quite frankly, I'm not too disappointed that we aren't getting the sort of attention Collingwood, Essendon and Carlton would be getting if they were 15-0. I bet it suits RL too. If we win the flag I couldn't care less if they didn't write about us, or tip us again.

I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!
