I notice that they are not leading the pack attacking Steve Baker, who had a far worse game yesterday.

Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Look sweetheart, I really can't be bothered with you any more so I'm just going to quote an old post.degruch wrote:I can use stats to prove a point, then I can't use stats to prove a point, I have to use my eyes to really tell, possessions have nothing to do with it but last week he didn't have enough, 82% disposal efficiency looks great but is actually poor, then some irrelevant tirade about the SANFL...what are you on about matey?
I'll make it simple for ya...you don't seem to like Raph Clarke, there's no reason for it, you just don't. This has nothing to do with football, so stop carrying on like it does and give it a rest.
OLB wrote:The thing I find is that when you need stats to defend a player it's usually an indication that the player was poor. Stats can confirm a good performance and they can confirm a bad performance. What stats can't do is cover up a poor performance.

We have been Two f****, AND we've been using stats to back it up. Never let the facts get in the way of a good Raph bashing.OLB wrote:Most of us use our eyes to determine how good a player was.
If your eyes tell you he deserves to be given a few weeks in the magoos (where will that end?), great, it'd be nice if you could back that up with a clear argument...remembering that all this started with you endorsing public character assassinations of players you perceive to be performing badly, so he must have been pretty bad.
Bored of you. You don't understand the game. What's for lunch?degruch wrote:We have been Two f****, AND we've been using stats to back it up. Never let the facts get in the way of a good Raph bashing.OLB wrote:Most of us use our eyes to determine how good a player was.

Funny thing is that many people I know consider me to be a "bit of a racist", probably because - unlike the chardonnay drinking inner city set I tend to hang around with - I have spent quite a lot of time talking to and dealing with our black brothers and sisters and don't have too many romantic illusions about them.markp wrote:A few weeks ago at a game, a guy standing next to me was calling Raph names and saying the usual "dont kick it to him, he's useless", at one point he looked at me and said "sorry mate, I'm a bit of a racist".... at least he had the balls to admit it.
I just happen to think that Raph is a highly talented player.
That's why I started the supporters thread last week and am pleased to see it has been bumped.
Raph played extremely well in a number of finals games last season in which many other much-loved players on this forum delivered bugger all.
And I admire people who have struggled to achieve in adverse circumstances. Raph is both an Aborigine and an epileptic. He doesn't need the added burden for being singled out for criticism (and he is singled out, whether for racist reasons or otherwise I'm not entirely sure)
And I have zero tolerance for bullies: including cyber-bullies.
I have never met OLB, or "White Winmar" (a rather odd and disturbing name: to quote a somewhat relevant person to this debate, "please explain") or any of the other anti-Raph posters on here.
Perhaps you are racists, or perhaps you are just plain old bullies. Whatever you are on about, it's time to lay off.
Even if Raph is as bad as you say he is........Just lay off, and go and pick on someone else for a while.
And for those of you who are actually racists, I've got some really, really bad news for you all.
It would seem that - a bit like how African-Americans now dominate sports like NFA and gridiron - the Aboriginal players are slowly taking over AFL.
So you might have to switch to following some other sport: like lacrosse or synchronised swimming.

He is unfairly maligned.
Was far from the worst player in red white and black, didn't have a great game but had 21 mates who fell in the same category.
May not have done enough to retain his spot, but may have.
I just don't understand the death watch on him, his performances have made him a fringe player and he has been selected or not accordingly.
It really seems odd that their can be no middle ground on this bloke. In my own opinion at his best he demands a spot in our best 22 at the moment he is not secure but this doesn't warrant the constant negative attention.

Yup, I spoke to this guy about it at half time, and he explained how his experiences had led him to be a racist... I just said my bit and told him he's viewing life from the position of someone who has probably had a relatively ideal upbringing, with all the advantages of being white and wealthy from day 1.meher baba wrote:Funny thing is that many people I know consider me to be a "bit of a racist", probably because - unlike the chardonnay drinking inner city set I tend to hang around with - I have spent quite a lot of time talking to and dealing with our black brothers and sisters and don't have too many romantic illusions about them.markp wrote:A few weeks ago at a game, a guy standing next to me was calling Raph names and saying the usual "dont kick it to him, he's useless", at one point he looked at me and said "sorry mate, I'm a bit of a racist".... at least he had the balls to admit it.

The constant shyte-bagging of Raph is just out of hand, and I agree it's time to lay off. He has enormous talent and gives his all.... if Ross thinks he's worth sticking with then why cant supporters just support? The worst part is if he does get dropped, all the peanuts will feel vindicated.

Surely this thread isn't for real....
If posters want to share their views, albeit negative about Clarke thats fine, its a discussion forum.
Those who rate R Clarke should justify it with articulate opinion, and not go for the man.
I find those who unjustly rush for the racist card just as simple as the those who have hidden agendas regarding race.

I think you need to read this thread from the start, and the last, it'll only take you a couple hours. 'Going the man' by those with nothing left in the bank is exactly what I've been fighting against...thankfully, I've got both weight of numbers and facts on my side.Spinner wrote:Those who rate R Clarke should justify it with articulate opinion, and not go for the man.
Nobody has said they cant. I am supposed to be a defender of Clarke, but if you had bothered to read the whole thread you will see that i am critical of his game yesterday.Spinner wrote:Surely this thread isn't for real....

It is not fair and honest critisism that is the problem, it is some posters hysterical generalisations and direct insults towards Raph Clarke when most objective observers can see that while he has weaknesses, Raph general has an upside, this is borne out by the fact that Ross Lyon want him in the team.
When he is personally attacked as "worst in the team", "putrid", "needs to be cut" etc, it is just a vindictive and personal attack.
So tell me spinner do you support this type of hatefilled attack on a 22.y.o kid?
it isn't about rating - it is about fairness, and going the man is what it is all about - see above for some quotes on this very thread.Spinner wrote:Those who rate R Clarke should justify it with articulate opinion, and not go for the man.
Like in the last hatefilled anti Raph thread - nobody has been labelled a racist. the race card has been played because it is prevelant - it is only a couple of hysterics who, after attacking Raph and the most personal way, then play the victim and complain about being called racist (when nobody actually did).Spinner wrote:I find those who unjustly rush for the racist card just as simple as the those who have hidden agendas regarding race.
The hypocricy is astounding, but hey, its an internet forum, so anything goes hey?
